Micallef Grande Bold Nicaragua

Brand owner and overall entrepreneur Al Micallef fell in love with the cigars made by Joel and Edel Gomez Sanchez, so much so that he asked them to create a personal cigar just for him. After their official debut in 2016, Micallef quickly introduced numerous other types of cigars, but realizing that most of the catalog was heavily centered on medium-bodied strength sticks, they focused their attention on something with a little more kick. Made in Nicaragua, the Micallef Grande Bold Nicaragua features a Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper covering Nicaraguan binder and filler to provide a bold and tasty full-bodied experience teeming with decades of expertise.

Despite many decades of war and revolution in this Central American country, the cigar industry has thrived due to the hard work and tenacity of Cuban exiles to the land such as Plasencia, Padron, Oliva, Ortez, and others. Tobacco has been a force of social stability, and the country is now one of the principal exporters of premium cigars in the world.

Cigar wrapper color varies from green (Double Claro or Candela) to black (Maduro or Oscuro) with a full range of browns in between.
Natural wrapper, also known as Colorado Claro, is light brown in color.

USA Connecticut Broadleaf
The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
Connecticut Broadleaf is grown in the United States' Connecticut Valley and is prized for its dark, oily, full flavored and aromatic characteristics. The plants are grown in full sun giving this cigar wrapper its characteristic sweetness. The Connecticut Broadleaf plant leaves are mainly processed as maduro tobacco. Today, Connecticut Broadleaf seeds are being grown in other countries besides the United States.
Binder
Nicaragua
The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Nicaraguan cigar binders are produced mainly in Esteli and Jalapa, both lands with volcanic soil and excellent climate for growing tobacco. Binders grown in Jalapa have sweet undertones. Corojo, Habana2000, Criollo, and Maduro binders are all produced in Nicaragua.

Filler is the term used to describe the tobacco inside a cigar or the "guts" of the cigar.

Micallef cigars are handmade at the Gomez Sanchez Family 1934 cigar factory in Esteli, Nicaragua. Established in 2016, the cigars were created by Al Micallef, a Texas-based entrepreneur and the Gomez Sanchez family, which has been in the tobacco industry for three generations.

It is slow even burning, packed with slightly sweet aroma and flavors of earth and leather that dominate gentle overtones of dark coca and roasted nuts! If you are desiring, or if you are searching for, a smooth, hardy, full-bodied smoke with no bite or peppery aftermath, and delivers gentle notes that are slightly sweet without hindering the pleasures of full-bodied cigars, and where each puff yields generous amounts of smoke that do not irritate the eyes, then this is it! Good smoke, NOT overwhelming, though the construction would say otherwise - Different from most Nicaragua flavor profiles I purchase - Prefer Robust sizing, as the flavors seem to be more direct, & hit your pallet immediately -

This was a very nice cigar. BOLD, rich yet smooth. The flavors were consistent from start to finish: dark coffee, wood, some sweetness and an unmistakable spicy pepper (first half). Strength was quite manageable (more flavors than nicotine kick). Very enjoyable, not recommended for a novice or those who prefer milder profile.

Very incredible cigar and aesthetically beautiful, rolled perfectly, perfect. Basically the same tobacco holistic composition as Mellilo’s Tabernacle but more bold. For the entire cigar I got cedar, earth, and a sweet twinge that was blackberry-like and the collective intensity and remained consistent to the finish with no bite or displeasure. Not a single relight necessary, excellent burn. This is a slow smoke cigar, very full of flavor and bold. This is a 92 or higher powerhouse! Well done!
