Part of EP Carrillo's 'Classic' series, this beautifully dark maduro is not only reserved for nightfall, but rather, any time you crave a rich and bold smoke that won't break the bank or leave you feeling woozy. Consisting of a Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper and an Ecuadorian binder housing premium long-filler Nicaraguan tobacco, notes of pepper, leather and dark wood flood the palate and lead way to a smooth coffee and raisin finish. Full-flavored but not quite as full-bodied as other maduro cigars, this is a perfect companion for watching either the sunrise OR sunset.

Most cigars are manufactured in the Caribbean and Central America.
The Dominican Republic is the world's first producer of cigars. Most factories are located in Santiago, in the center of the island, and in close proximity to the tobacco fields grown in the fertile Cibao Valley. While tobacco and cigars have always traditionally been produced in the Dominican Republic, many Cuban cigar makers established in the Dominican Republic after the Cuban communist revolution, elevating the quality of Dominican cigars.

Maduro wrapper can go from dark coffee brown with a reddish tint to blackish brown (the latter also called Oscuro).

USA Connecticut Broadleaf
The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
Connecticut Broadleaf is grown in the United States' Connecticut Valley and is prized for its dark, oily, full flavored and aromatic characteristics. The plants are grown in full sun giving this cigar wrapper its characteristic sweetness. The Connecticut Broadleaf plant leaves are mainly processed as maduro tobacco. Today, Connecticut Broadleaf seeds are being grown in other countries besides the United States.
Binder
Ecuador
The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Ecuador is the perfect place to grow binders, because it is located on the Equator and it has rich soils too. The weather conditions, with a nearly permanent cloudy sky, provide a natural shade, protecting the plants from sunshine and allowing the tobacco to grow thin and light. Ecuador supplies Connecticut and Sumatra type binders to many cigar factory in the world.

Filler is the term used to describe the tobacco inside a cigar or the "guts" of the cigar.

I’m a fan of Broadleaf & EP Carrillo Cigars, so for me the Dusk was a no-brainer. The homegrown Connecticut broadleaf wrapper drapes an Ecuadorian binder and Nicaraguan fillers. The dry draw gives a little bit of chocolatey sweetness but you’re greeted with much more complexity after its lit- including sweet notes of coffee, earth, and a little bit of pepper to balance the cigar. Construction wise the cigar looks fantastic and there’s a nice open draw but the burn leaves a bit to be desired. The second third rounds out the dull earthiness with notes of cedar and leather making for a very well rounded smoke. Between the compact size and robust flavor this is the perfect smoke for a late night wind-down. I recommend pairing it with a nice bourbon to cut through that earthiness. Another tremendous cigar from EP Carrillo at a very reasonable price.

It was ok except the cap came unraveled. Draw was a little too tight. One thing about these I do not like is the brown stain from the cap. It’s like it was painted on, lol, and comes off when smoking. Bleh. My least favorite of EPC.

Beautiful presentation, dark wrapper and well made and dense structure, but that does not influence the draw which is very good. Before light, with the smell and taste of coffee, which remains in smoke, with notes of tea and tobacco, with coffee always present. 100% regular burning and constant draw maintenance. Very consistent ash, with white color. Little evolution, and a mild pleasurable picancia. Without bitterness. Excellent cost-benefit and an amazing two-hour smoking time.

I have been enamored with Carillo cigars as of late, and I was excited to be given the opportunity to review this stick! In keeping with this cigar’s namesake, I waited until the sun had set before pulling it out of my humidor and lighting it up! Upon first inspection, the cigar had a slight oily sheen, exceptional construction and a nice dark chocolate stout appearance. In keeping with the theme of stout, it has a pleasant fragrance with hints of coffee, dark chocolate and stout. During the first third of the cigar, notes of pepper, leather, some cedar and a hint of dark chocolate were present. The burn is even and the ash is nice and solid. Moving into the second third, the hints of pepper and leather are still present, but have moved to the background. A slight hint of tart cherry becomes noticeable as well some sweetness of raisins on the tongue. Still burning very nice and even. Into the third third the cigar begins to mellow and the flavors present before have melded a bit. Definite hints of coffee, chocolate and stout are more pronounced. The cigar finishes off nicely. A straight burn consistent throughout the burn. If you enjoy a full bodied cigar, then I think you’ll really enjoy this cigar! The master blender created a fantastic smoke!
