Fernando Leon Limited Edition

The Fernando Leon Limited Edition is a commemorative premium cigar that was crafted to celebrate the life and times of Fernando Leon, the former president of La Aurora cigars who passed away in 2009. This lovely homage cigar sports a carefully aged Dominican-grown Corojo wrapper expertly placed over an Ecuadorian binder and filler leaves from Brazil, Nicaragua, Peru and the Dominican Republic. It is hand crafted at the La Aurora cigar factory, which is considered the oldest cigar factory in the Dominican Republic. A fitting tribute to a legend in the cigar industry, the Fernando Leon Limited Edition is a box-worthy medium-strength, full-bodied cigar that’s perfect for any special occasion.

The Dominican Republic is the world's first producer of cigars. Most factories are located in Santiago, in the center of the island, and in close proximity to the tobacco fields grown in the fertile Cibao Valley. While tobacco and cigars have always traditionally been produced in the Dominican Republic, many Cuban cigar makers established in the Dominican Republic after the Cuban communist revolution, elevating the quality of Dominican cigars.

The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
Corojo wrapper was first developed in Cuba in the 1930s and quickly became popular as the wrapper on some of the best cigars. By the end of the 90s, Cuba stopped growing Corojo wrapper because of its susceptibility to pests and diseases. Ironically, Corojo wrapper has since become more popular outside of Cuba, as it has been replicated in tobacco farms in Nicaragua, Honduras, Ecuador and the Dominican Republic.

The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Ecuador is the perfect place to grow binders, because it is located on the Equator and it has rich soils too. The weather conditions, with a nearly permanent cloudy sky, provide a natural shade, protecting the plants from sunshine and allowing the tobacco to grow thin and light. Ecuador supplies Connecticut and Sumatra type binders to many cigar factory in the world.

Brazil
Filler is the term used to describe the tobacco inside a cigar or the "guts" of the cigar.
Brazil produces rich, medium to strong, dark tobaccos with a sweet taste and aroma. Most of the cigar production is concentrated on the eastern coast of Brazil, in the state of Bahia.
Dominican Republic

Larry Description states 10 cigars per box and only 150 boxes made. There are a Tually 15 per box and 500 boxes made.
