Most factories are located in Santiago, in the center of the island, and in close proximity to the tobacco fields grown in the fertile Cibao Valley. While tobacco and cigars have always traditionally been produced in the Dominican Republic, many Cuban cigar makers established in the Dominican Republic after the Cuban communist revolution, elevating the quality of Dominican cigars.

The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Dominican Republic is a traditional tobacco-growing country. In the 60's, a Cuban seed was introduced and the resulting tobacco, called Piloto Cubano, became famous as a good substitute of the Cuban tobacco that was no longer allowed to enter the USA. Piloto Cubano is full bodied while the Dominican Olor tobacco is milder but more aromatic.

A little small for me, but perfect if ur craving a quick and quality smoke before u rush off. Smooth and creamy. Great aroma. The 702s possibly have the best aroma iv experienced. The signature 2000 retrohale has just a little room for improvement but still pleasant. Great cigar.

Extremely bold cigar especiallyfor a davidoff, but the creamyness give that strong flavor a real nice synergies for those with the cigar acquired taste. Not for everyone. Even bolder than the maduro Nicaraguan box press. Just a little room for improvement on the retrohale until u into the head of the cigar. The 702 series possibly has the best aroma iv ever experienced in a cigar.

Best aroma iv experienced in a cigar in my life with a great mild and creamy taste. Incredible cold draw adding complexities down into the body of the cigar. Bit much for me personally. Almost a 2 hour smoke. The ones I received had minor burn issues

I have to be a somewhat contrary voice here in these reviews. I've smoked 2 of these now, one after several months of rest in my humidor. For a $25 maduro, I find them somewhat thin/harsh (has a sour note) and not that interesting. The pros: beautiful construction, good draw (almost a little loose), no burn issues, lots of white smoke output. Cons: feels a little soft/spongey, and the flavors didn't seem particularly complex to me. When I compare this to the Plasencia Alma Fuertes or Padron 1964/1926s in the same price range, I definitely would give the nod to those. Would not buy this again. Maybe I'm just not used to the Davidoff flavor profile.

The 702 series is a different kind of Davidoff... a little bold, a bit spicy, and thoroughly complex. Yet ultimately, this stick remains every bit as sophisticated and refined as you have come to expect from Geneva. This particular stick, the special T, is almost identical to the original blend from the early 1990's, but with the addition of a dark, reddish-brown, hybrid Ecuadorian wrapper born from three different strains of Cuban seed. This changed the profile of the cigar fairly dramatically. The stick starts off dry, with notes of cedar, earth, cocoa, wood, musty black tea and spice. As you progress, the level of sweetness begins to increase and the initial dryness transitions somewhat to a more creamy mouth feel. This progression continues until the very end of the cigar....the flavors just continue to get bigger and bolder until the very end....yet no flavor seems to completely dominate the others. As I mentioned previously...the complexity to this smoke is commendable. I nearly decided not to discuss the construction quality of this cigar due to its manufacturer, but for those not in the know.... construction is flawless, draw is perfection, and burn required zero effort or touch ups. This is a gorgeous cigar that should be on hand for special occasions of all sorts. However, do make sure to find the time to really sit down, relax, and be completely absorbed by this stick....fire up something else if you are just trying to maintain a smile while fighting traffic or sneak in a few puffs during a lunch break. Try pairing with San Pellegrino in order to keep your palate neutral so you can fully appreciate the nuances of this smoke. A Hendrick's martini would also be quite suitable. Cheers!

Okay, so yeah, it’s a Davidoff. Not my first, and it’s up against a lot of competition. The appearance of the cigar is gorgeous. The cap was a bit problematic - at the point that I’d normally cut a cigar like this, it was plugged. Snip it a little further, and the draw was perfect. The aroma was fine, and the taste was great. Overall it’s a great cigar, but it is horrendously overpriced for what you get. It should be world class at this price point, offering something unique and distinctive. Instead it’s just a text book cigar that does nothing wrong, but nothing spectacular. For comparison purposes, I’d hold up against Warped’s Don Reynaldo Regalos. Now that’s a $21.40 cigar, but it’s only $13! Nope, I will not buy it again.

They say you never forget your first anything. Well, they're right. Recently, I smoked my first Davidoff cigar, and I will always remember it. It was on a warm Friday night at Neptune's Dadeland store during a Davidoff event. The crowd was small and mellow. The place was full of true cigar aficionados. The conversation was light and focused on the cigars. I scanned through the tastefully arranged Davidoff display. For some reason, the Davidoff 702 Aniversario Special R caught my eye. Maybe it was the dark Ecuadorian wrapper and how it sharply contrasted with the elegant white band and its distinct gold lettering. Or maybe I liked the way this robusto felt in my hand: not too long and not too thick, just right. Not sure, but it’s the one I chose. Sliding off the cellophane wrapper, I could tell I was in for a bold treat. The cold draw hinted of the 702 Special R's strength and flavor profile. From the first puff, I could tell this was going to be one spicy stick by the light stinging sensation it left in my throat. A strong woodsy aroma immediately introduced itself and remained constant throughout. Somewhere through the second third, a peppery taste started to become more pronounced but it did not overpower the woodsy flavor. The two flavors seemed to stay constant all the way into the final third. As for the burn, it did get a little uneven in the beginning, but after a little touch up from a torch lighter, it was smooth sailing from then on. Superbly constructed, the 702 Special R had a nice smooth draw, which made it easier to enjoy. Overall, the Davidoff 702 Aniversario Special R is a strong smoke with a consistent flavor and an excellent draw. I recommend it for the cigar enthusiast who is looking for a special occasion cigar, or wants to try a Davidoff for the first time.

As with all Davidoff cigars, construction is flawless. Nice draw and quite a bit stronger than your typical Davidoff. Really nice aroma and flavor. Slightly musky and a faint mineral taste towards the end. I think this cigar would benefit from some aging. Just wish the price was not so high.

As a big fan of Davidoff cigars I have tried the Aniversario No.3 a few times. It is definitely one of my favorites! Davidoff master blenders have taken the challenge to reinvent select formats in the Signature and Aniversario series. Giving them an exciting twist with the legendary 702 Ecuadorian wrapper, and born from the hybrid of three Cuban seeds, the Aniversario No.3 is a full-bodied Toro cigar, with a wrapper that is quite exquisite. Perfectly smooth with a chocolate brown color, the cap applied is a work of art. I couldn't ask for a better draw. Delectable notes of brown sugar, honey, cedar, dried fruit, and nuts can be found. Great flavor with superb smoke - it’s all you can ask for in a cigar. It has even more depth and richness to it compared to the regular Aniversario. This cigar is so well blended that even the aftertaste is delicious. Leaving me on the edge of my seat with a mix between spicy and sweet, I can't wait until my next one.

This stunning Ecuadorian Habano hybrid wrapper attracts your attention immediately especially with the elegant Davidoff banding. What could be bad—NOTHING!! This hybrid wrapper has been in the works for awhile and it has surely been worth the wait. Upon first light, cedar and earthy notes are upfront along with almost a mustiness—but in a good way. The cigar is very smooth at this point. Into the second third, woody notes appear with some type of hickory taste. Picks up some pepper and leather notes as well. The creaminess disappears and transforms into a sort of dryer smoke on the palate. It is still at a solid medium smoke with nice balance of notes, very interesting. Into the final third, it amps up into a full bodied cigar. A bit more sweetness appears but woody notes are still predominate. The flavors mesh so beautifully and kept me entertained throughout entire smoke. Davidoff can be a bit pricey but well worth it. Construction was also superb. This cigar is a must try for the more experienced smoker. Enjoy— I sure did!!
