The VegaFina 1998 cigar was created to celebrate the brand’s more than two decades of producing premium cigars. This anniversary stick is expertly handmade in La Romana, Dominican Republic at the famous Tabacalera de Garcia factory, which is considered the largest cigar manufacturer in this Caribbean island nation. The VegaFina 1998 is made of a carefully selected five-nation blend, and it features tobaccos that have been aged for at least for four years. The blend was developed by Altadis, USA’s Grupo de Maestros.

The Dominican Republic is the world's first producer of cigars. Most factories are located in Santiago, in the center of the island, and in close proximity to the tobacco fields grown in the fertile Cibao Valley. While tobacco and cigars have always traditionally been produced in the Dominican Republic, many Cuban cigar makers established in the Dominican Republic after the Cuban communist revolution, elevating the quality of Dominican cigars.

Ecuadorian Habano wrapper has become one of the most used cigar wrappers in the market. Grown primarily by the Oliva family, this tobacco originated from Habano or H2000 seeds brought to Ecuador from Cuba. This leaf is rich and flavorful thanks to the temperate climate of Ecuador and the quality of its volcanic soil.

I paired this with a regular mug of coffee and it went well. The initial taste was kind of non-descript - nothing stood out. Second third was peppery and woodsy and really smooth. The draw was tight but not overly so. The burn was kind of uneven and needed several touch ups. The last third was even more peppery which was a nice note to end with. A nice 90 minute morning smoke.

Great looking Habano wrapper. Draw is on the tight side and smoke production not as generous as expected, but does improve in the 2nd third. Burn is even requiring only a couple of retouches. Flavor profile is initially a bit bland with no predominant notes and starts developing more in 2nd third with notes of white pepper and wood. Left a bit of an ashy aftertaste after the smoke.
