Most cigars are manufactured in the Caribbean and Central America.
Despite many decades of war and revolution in this Central American country, the cigar industry has thrived due to the hard work and tenacity of Cuban exiles to the land such as Plasencia, Padron, Oliva, Ortez, and others. Tobacco has been a force of social stability, and the country is now one of the principal exporters of premium cigars in the world.

Cigar wrapper color varies from green (Double Claro or Candela) to black (Maduro or Oscuro) with a full range of browns in between.
Colorado maduro wrapper is milk chocolate brown.
Wrapper
Mexican
The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
Mexican tobacco is very dark and the best leaves can be used as maduro wrappers. In San Andres de Tuxtla (in the state of Vera Cruz), there is a very interesting production of Sumatra seed wrappers. Dark air cured tobaccos are produced in Mexico, mainly in Vera Cruz and Tampico provinces, on the East Coast along the Gulf. There is also some production in Yucatan. Mexico's volcanic soil yields tobacco that is spicy and earthy, with a very distinctive flavor.
Binder
Nicaragua
The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Nicaraguan cigar binders are produced mainly in Esteli and Jalapa, both lands with volcanic soil and excellent climate for growing tobacco. Binders grown in Jalapa have sweet undertones. Corojo, Habana2000, Criollo, and Maduro binders are all produced in Nicaragua.

Filler is the term used to describe the tobacco inside a cigar or the "guts" of the cigar.

Their Miami headquarters house 12 rollers that make all of the company's "handmade in Miami" brands.

Looks and smells beautiful. No good at notes me but I know what I like. The pre draw seemed like the cigar was going to be airy and loose but far from it, I found it spot on. Lots of smoke,which is what we want yeah? Great aroma obviously. Really smooth tasty smoke. The only problem for me was the bitter last third. However, the first two thirds more than made up for it.

my father in law. Amazingly smooth and creamy smoke throughout that checks all the boxes. Only reason it didnt get the perfect score is that there was a slight canoeing that started in the first 3rd and lasted throughout. Amazing flavors that start off with a sweet nutty vanilla flavor that transitions to a sweet creamy dark chocolate with the nutty flavor still present througth the 2/3. The final third was a bit warm but I think that was mainly down to my smoking this a bit too enjoyably. Would highly recommend this for anyone, great flavors without being overwhelming. Will be stocking up on these or maybe the toros for the future.

As with other La Aroma’s, this one doesn’t disappoint. Excellent draw, great burn, good performance all around. Nice body and volume. I think others that have had problems may have them too humid (relight, uneven burn, etc). These IMHO do best at 65-67%. Higher than 67-70 and they can have problems. When I get them I let them rest in 65%RH/70F for a minimum of a few weeks. Anyway, a fine cigar. I always have some of this lineup in the humidor.

La Aroma De Cuba Mi Amor Churchill is a rich, sweet smoke rolled in Don Pepin Garcia's Nicaragua factory. Boasting a dark, smooth Mexican San Andres wrapper, it had a touch of spice on light-up that was quickly washed away by a rich, chocolate and coffee sweetness that would remain throughout the duration of the cigar. This medium to full-bodied stick is filled with satisfying espresso notes, but the retro hale gives a satisfying kick of a spicy and nutty wood. As the second third begins, any brief notes of spice feel like a distant memory as the sweetness of the wrapper is brought to the foreground. Throughout the second third, that sweetness, which was so prominent as it commenced, would die back into that same rich, nutty wood. While the draw was a little bit too tight, the construction was great and it was regularly putting up long ash, which I would knock off to not have it spill. This fantastic cigar would pair lovely with a good stout beer!

Not that great, to be honest. Pretty ordinary looking. Required several relights, and in the second half of the cigar, the draw got very tight and it started to produce a very heavy, thick smoke. Lost interest in finishing it. Aroma was pleasant. Taste nothing special. Would not buy again.

One of, if not my favorite cigar. The smell of the cigar alone before it is even lit is incredible. First third is naturally sweet, smooth, and bold. Some dark chocolate bitterness and spice kicks up in the second and final third but sweetness and smoothness remain. My biggest throwback on this cigar was the draw, very tight and low output of smoke compared to others. Did have to do a few touchups throughout but nothing major. Could have potentially been my stick and not representative of the rest. Would highly recommend for a special event, after dinner smoke, or an introduction to darker cigars to someone new.

This is a pretty cigar. It’s aroma is subtle and light, With a perfect draw, and saw burn, the smoke is also the same. It’s balanced and very approachable, and I was left wanting a little more. I’d read great reviews so maybe my expectations were too high. Certainly nothing wrong here, just not wowed.

Very spicy and harsh to start, mellowed out but lacked full aroma. Flavors included cedar, leather, and some dried fruits. Burn issues and flavor may have been better if allowed to sit longer in humidor. I’m not a big fan of peppery cigars but this may be for you if you are.

For some reason about six or seven of my cigars did not burn evenly they had runs or a wormhole halfway through but that did not stop me from smoking them down to a roach. I will order more it was not the end of the world still a great cigar and customer service from Neptune.

Excellent sampler, not a dud in the bunch. The San Cristobals struck me as medium and creamy with the monumento coming in nutty and a cocoa element with the revelation. The LADC robusto was med-full with a woodiness and the MI Amor reserva employs my fav blend of San Andres over Nicaraguan fillers. The MI Amor and MI Amor reserva are my favs but you can't go wrong with any of the five.

Nice Mexican Maduro Wrapper, minimal veins and barely visible seams. Firm to the touch, with an Amazing draw. Sweet aroma with hints of nougat. Cold draw allows you to enjoy the sweet Maduro. Once lit, smooth earth with a lingering sweetness, no transitions. Slow burn, producing plenty of light smoke. Ash holds a bit over an inch before falling. Enjoyable Churchill, long balanced mild to medium strength, a pleasure to be enjoyed leisurely.

Maybe the best value I've found. Slightly smaller and more expensive than her little sister, but worth the money and compromise on weight. Give them time to settle though and moisten up properly for a while for full effect.

This is perhaps the closest domestically available cigar I've had so far to the Cubans I enjoy smoking. Cuba is not the end-all-be-all for sure but it makes a pretty good benchmark. These Mi Amors pass the test in my book. Exactly as described. Medium body, a little sweet and nutty. I like the belicoso shape because if the draw is a little too tight you can just snip a bit more off and it opens right up to you. Really really liked these. Can't recommend them enough.

Def a fan of the Mi Amors. Have smoked a handful of robustos churchills and one belicoso. All performed excellent except one robusto that was wound a bit too tight. The churchills are my favorite but the belicoso was nice as well. Excellent taste aroma construction and draw. That one tight robusto wont deter me from keeping Mi Amors represented in my humidor in the future...

I love La Roma's and the Mi Amor with the Mexican wrapper is the best they provide to me. This is a bit of a lighter smoke, but in true form provides that classic Cuban aroma. Something in it's taste makes you want more, so 4 stars there - 5 stars for everything else.

I normally do robusto sizes for this brand, but tried this one out. The box press does help slow the burn down some, about an hour and forty-five minute burn time. Flavors were very familiar to me and smoother them the regular line, mostly espresso with spice, earth does come in some but isnt dominant most of the time. Draw little tight causing smoke at start but picked up about an inch down.

So glad Neptune ran a promo on Churchill boxes for these. Had not had one of these in a while and am glad I invested in a box. Simply put, there is nothing exquisite or fancy about this cigar; however, it does everything it's supposed to do. Looks perfect, great band, superb draw/burn/aroma, etc. As someone who loves super heavy cigars, this is a fantastic alternative if you are not looking for something a bit subtle that still packs a punch.

This is one nicely put together cigar. Excellent in appearence, firm body, good burn. As i started out with this one strong notes of woody pepper that get smoother more refined as you go further in. Mine had a problem in the middle of the 2/3 and got harder to puff and to stay lite. The flavors marinated unfortunately for me at the time it was getting very enjoyable. Will have to order another to see if it was just this cigar. Everything else was on par.

I like this cigar, maybe I dont agree 95 points but over 91 for sure. The Burn is not perfect as I can expect for 95 points, its funny but most Nicaraguan Cigars I had Smoke have same Burn. Strenght is good, Aroma and Taste very Original. I usually smoke the whole cigar without turning off but this one I took 2 hours between some Gin Tonics. Good Cigar!

Nice stick from Ashton that is well constructed, good appearance, kind of too tight a draw [i](but fixable)[/i], burned nice & even, formed a even ash, and has a earth with a hit of sweetness flavor profile. I would say if you like stuff from Ashton, and have not had this particular stick try it.

I was expecting more from this cigar. This isn't a bad cigar but for a medium cigar it's not my preference. I'd prefer a Macanudo Cafe Hyde Park over this. I had burn issues but 30 mph winds might have added to the problem. Not in my top 25 but I wouldn't say no if offered one.

Bought this a few months back and just finally got around to lighting it up. This is a good looking cigar, the wrapper is dark and very smooth. Artwork on the band is very nice as well. As for the flavors, first impressions upon lighting it up were mainly setup on a platform of a nutty profile, reminded me of Spanish peanuts a bit. There was a subtle sweetness but it was indistinguishable. As you progress through the smoke the woody notes take control and there is a hint of leather and spice on the finish. I had a lot of trouble with the burn on this stick though, two relights and a very inconsistent burn line throughout the cigar. Overall a good cigar that I would smoke again but I am not rushing out to buy a box.

Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde... My pre smoke routine yielded nothing but 95+ point levels. The stunning band, a reminder of yesteryear, when they were considered works of art in and of themselves bears your close examination at the end of the smoke. Appreciate the amazing detail with a magnifying glass if you want a full and complete experience. Construction is superb and the pre-light nose explodes with cacao notes. The smoker is left salivating pending his visit to the Ghirardelli factory. Flame yields plenty of smoke in a sublime and effortless draw. The highly desirable white ash makes its entrance next on stage signifying the necessary magnesium content. Unfortunately, Mr, Hyde then steals the entire production. The chocolate which had us salivating in our pre-light routine is there but so far in the distance one must use high grade optics to find it. What overwhelms is cheap store brand, even stale pepper and we wait for the return of the good Doctor but alas he is nowhere to be found. I have never had a cigar with such juxtaposed qualities. There are many better tasting cigars among the so named top 25 upper echelon of the past several years. I give it a 90 and I feel in a quandary being that generous.

With a 95 rating by CA and all the hype about this cigar I admit I was expecting a lot from this cigar. In fact I smoked two of these sticks before reviewing the belicoso. Positives: I love the look and feel of this cigar! Construction is flawless and so is the overall presentation. After lighting up I found this cigar bitter with a hint of pepper (not a fan). Although the taste improved into the second third this is a decent-good smoke. Will put the remaining 23 sticks in my humidor hoping the flavours will improve over time. I enjoyed the experience but definitely not in my top five. Guess I'm still on the fence with this one.

A quality smoke. Flavors bounce around a bit in terms of intensity, but remain rooted in an earthy core. The flavor adds a bit of sweetness, though it plays backup to the core flavors that have been developing since the first puff. The Cigar performed flawlessly, with a sharp burn line, strong white ash and consistent smoke output. Highly recommend that you give this smoke a try.

Wrapped in a rich Mexican San Andres Maduro wrapper, this dark Nicaraguan beauty is made at the My Father Cigars factory in Esteli. I love this box pressed torpedo shape, one of my favorite sizes as it is very pleasant to hold in your hands, smoke, and always draws and burns beautifully. This is the same shape as another favorite, the My Father Le Bijou Torpedo (which is an inch longer, but also delicious). The flavor is complex; be prepared to experience an array of different flavors from cocoa to cedar to creamy caramel and dried fruit. I had heard alot of buzz over this stick.. construction in flawless, intial light is a huge amount of bitterness and is prolonged through the finish, performance was very good razor sharp burn line and solid ash , too much bitterness for me it did smooth out while on the 2nd third but the flavors can overwhelm you... i enjoyed the experience but wasnt my fav so far...

First of all. I would start to say this is defently a rebuy. Great smoke! The aroma is nice and sweet. The tast was first to strong for me, but it only lasted a couple af draws. Then it became balanced and medium, with sweet hints. The draw is nice, not to hard but with a good resistent.

This is a great smoke out of the box. I do believe it could benefit from some resting/aging. I have a dozen sitting in a resting humidor slated for the summer of 2005. 5 Stars in all categories. Right off you notice the great draw of this well constructed stick, with big smoke. Top third you get some pepper from the dark wrapper and notes of spice and earth from the fillers. Very smooth with great aroma. Next third chocolate becomes noticeable and creamy notes of nuts hit the palette. Black pepper disappears and spice turns down. A distinct flavor change with strength coming on bold near last third. Flavors begin to fuse but the chocolate crème remains as the overriding taste. Nicotine continues to kick up as the cigar goes to a small nub. The last third separates those that enjoy the thump of power from the less seasoned smoker (like me). Great experience but best taken as an after dinner treat-novices beware.

a lot of pepper, great burn and draw more full than medium; overall really good cigar. Make sure you have it after a meal.

Very good cigar. I must first third of the cigar was lacking a smooth flavor but the second and final third really made up for it. The burn was excellent as well as the draw. The second and final third really came up in terms of smoothness and flavor. Nutty/earthy flavors with slights hints of bitter chocolate and coffee flavors. Real nice!

Hands down one of the best smelling cigars I own. Just from the aroma itself I could see why it made #2 on Cigar Aficianado. This is a perfectly balanced cigar and should be in every cigar connoisseur's humidor. Going to order more soon.

Excellent cigar. Would most certainly compete with cigars twice its price. Full of flavor, even draw and amazing aroma.

Great cigar worthy of it's rating by Cigar Aficionado. I do, however, prefer the standard La Aroma better than the Mi Amor. I know I am not with the experts but get you some of the standards and compare for yourself.
