1875 By Romeo y Julieta is the 2014 addition to the Romeo y Julieta brand by Altadis. Meant to offer a bolder taste than the standard 1875 series, this revamped mild to medium-bodied Honduran toro features a light brown chocolate-colored Indonesian wrapper that covers a Dominican binder and Dominican filler to provide notes of cedar, cocoa and spice throughout its smooth earthy finish.

Honduras, a Central American country which shares a border with Nicaragua, is widely known in the premium cigar industry as the ideal place to grow Cuban and Connecticut seed tobaccos. Danli and the Jamastran Valley is considered the heart of Honduras’ cigar industry. The Jamastran Valley is known for producing a full-bodied tobacco that draws strong comparisons to the tobacco grown in the Pinar del Rio region of Cuba. This same region is also known for its Connecticut shade grown and Corojo shade grown tobacco. In addition, Honduras produces Cuban-seed sun grown filler tobaccos of the highest quality.

Cigar wrapper color varies from green (Double Claro or Candela) to black (Maduro or Oscuro) with a full range of browns in between.
Natural wrapper, also known as Colorado Claro, is light brown in color.

The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
Tobacco is grown in many islands of the Archipelago but, as far as cigars are concerned, Sumatra and Java are the ones. Sumatra Wrappers are worldwide known. Central Java (Vorstenland) and East Java (Besuki) give fillers and wrappers in abundance. Indonesia is a key country for cigar tobacco.

The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Dominican Republic is a traditional tobacco-growing country. In the 60's, a Cuban seed was introduced and the resulting tobacco, called Piloto Cubano, became famous as a good substitute of the Cuban tobacco that was no longer allowed to enter the USA. Piloto Cubano is full bodied while the Dominican Olor tobacco is milder but more aromatic.

Filler is the term used to describe the tobacco inside a cigar or the "guts" of the cigar.
Filler (or “tripa” in Spanish) is the term used to describe the tobacco inside a cigar or the "guts" of the cigar. The Dominican Republic is considered one of the most premier tobacco growing countries in the world. The filler tobacco grown in this Caribbean island nation ranges from mild to full bodied. Olor Dominicano and Piloto Cubano are the main types of tobacco grown in the Dominican Republic.

NeptuneCigar.com It's recommended that you place the cigars in a humidor upon receipt. If this is not an option, keep the cigars in a cool location(not a refrigerator) and out of sunlight. Two - Four weeks outside of a humidor will make the cigars a bit dry, but shouldn't cause long term damage.

This will be the third time I've had this sampler and its become a tradition to order it every holiday season. Both times I was pleased with 8 and only mildly disappointed with 1. Offers a good cross section of choices with varying flavors and strengths. My personal favs are the Monte and the Banker but there is something in this sampler for everyone. first time ordering it from Neptune and got it fast with no issues at all.

From a 9 cigar sampler, I loved 3 of them, hated 1 of them and was ambivalent about 5 of them. That's what good sampler does, gives you a taste w/out committing to a box. Well worth the money. I do reccomend!

These are definitely high quality cigars at a great price! If you want to try great offerings from very reputable and long-standing cigar brands - this is a great choice! My personal favorite in the sampler (so far) was the Romeo y Julieta Reserva Real.

Ahhhh... The "Churchill" 1875. According to several books I've read recently, yes, about Winston Churchill, this was his favorite cigar. When he could get them. I'm guessing that there was a bit of a difficult time during WWll getting his favorite cigars? But, that aside, it's much easier today, Neptune seems to have no issues supplying me with one of my favorites. Set aside a bit of time, relax and enjoy. A good hours long smoke, burns nice, smokes better. If you haven't tried one, your missing a very nice smoke. As I said, one of my favorite ways to pass a quiet hour on the porch.

This is my go to sampler. I have never been disatisfied with this one. The cigars are always fresh and ready to smoke. Smooth dry draw with no binding, wrapper is smooth and there is a nice aroma, easy lighting with smooth burn. I have yet to have to fix a crooked burn. It is a must try.

Good choice from R&J. I had 2 of these. The first one smoked perfect, this second one cracked in a couple of places. Kept at a constant 69 humidity. Maybe just the day. But still smoked perfect and no complaints.
