A full-strength cigar with rich notes of cocoa, chocolate, spice, wood, and leather. Its Mexican San Andres wrapper covers a Nicaraguan binder and filler. This awesome blend includes the Sancti Spiritus leaf, which is grown exclusively by My Father Cigars. Handmade in Nicaragua, La Mission by L'Atelier Import cigars, of which Pete Johnson of Tatuaje is a partner, is a cigar inspired by a Bordeaux winery called Chateau La Mission. The “1989” date corresponds to the year that the winery received a 100 point rating from Robert Parker, a highly respected wine critic and publisher of The Wine Advocate.

La Mission, launched in 2015, is the most full bodied release of L'atelier, using a Mexican San Andres wrapper, Nicaraguan binder and filler tobaccos. The blend also includes Sancti Spiritus leaf in the filler, a tobacco grown by the Garcia family in Nicaragua. La Mission is handmade in the Garcia's factory, My Father Cigars.

Box-Pressed (Square)
A box pressed cigar is a cigar that has a square shape. Originally, this shape came from the practice of packing round cigars tightly in cardboard boxes which are then compacted using a manual press. The cigars are thus pressed into each other and become a "squarish" or semi-square shape. Today, cigar makers use square shaped molds or a wooden trunk press for their box pressed cigars, achieving a more defined square section.

My Father Cigars manufactures handmade premium cigars in Miami and Esteli, Nicaragua. The company is owned and operated by Don Pepin, his son Jaime, and his daughter Janny. The "Garcia Family Industrial Park" located in Esteli, Nicaragua is a seven-acre complex with 9 buildings, over 1900 employees, where the Garcias supervise their cigar production from the tobacco field to the roller's table. Their Miami headquarters house 12 rollers that make all of the company's "handmade in Miami" brands.

Mexican San Andres Maduro
The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
Mexican tobacco is very dark and the best leaves can be used as maduro wrappers. San Andres Maduro is a thick, medium bodied dark leaf, also called San Andres Morron. Like Connecticut Broadleaf, San Andres Maduro is stalk cut and used for binder and wrapper.

The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Nicaraguan cigar binders are produced mainly in Esteli and Jalapa, both lands with volcanic soil and excellent climate for growing tobacco. Binders grown in Jalapa have sweet undertones. Corojo, Habana2000, Criollo, and Maduro binders are all produced in Nicaragua.

If you are passionate about cigars that match body & strength look no further!! La Mission is a fantastic stick that will leave you with an experience that may never be reached again!! It left me chasing the dragon trying to find another stick that could beat this experience but left me with: trying to find anything that might match or even compete.... Finally bought three for a first try. The unique appearance, construction, and the roll were all perfect. I lose my sense of smell once I light up so the dry presence and that aroma is what I rate at tops, with all aspects. This is clearly a full flavored bold cigar and I discovered a flavor that I have not yet experienced before. The cigar burns slowly for its size! Good! The ash is fine and dusty and it holds well. am sure that the Sancti Spiritus was what surprised me as new and very very good. The outer wrap is the Mexican beauty San Andres and it all comes together to become a thrilling and highly individual work of art. So, I'm hooked, will buy more! I see this fine cigar in the 92 to 95 range. Incredible cigar, just outstanding! Highly recommended for an experienced cigar smoker!

This is a great stick by the blending team behind L' Atelier cigars which includes well known cigar superstar Pete Johnson (famous for his Tatuaje cigars), his brother K.C., and his 2 friends Dan Welsh and Sean Johnson. These guys say they were inspired by robust wines when coming up with this intense cigar, which is being handmade by Pepin Garcia and his family in Esteli, Nicaragua. The bold flavor of this cigar comes from the rare Sancti Spiritus tobacco in the filler, wrapped with a Nicaraguan binder and one of my favorite cigar wrappers, the earthy San Andres Mexican leaf which imparts the smoke with chocolatey goodness. As with most of My Father cigars, the stick starts peppery then mellows out quickly to an earthy flavor. Lovely cigar that goes very well with an aged dark rum.

I have smoked several of the L'Atelier cigars and was looking forward to this smoke...it did not disappoint. As expected with any Pete Johnson creation this is a special smoke, medium to full bodied with a nice aroma and solid ash, it burned consistent throughout the smoke. For the price I highly recommend this cigar.
