El Gueguense Toro Huaco 6 * 56, Box of 25

El Gueguense (pronounced Way-Wen-Say) is the first cigar released by Foundation Cigar Company after founder Nick Melillo left Drew Estate to start his own venture. The cigar is a Nicaraguan puro made in Nicaragua and the unusual name comes from a satirical folkloric character El Gueguense or "Wise Man".

Most cigars are manufactured in the Caribbean and Central America.
Despite many decades of war and revolution in this Central American country, the cigar industry has thrived due to the hard work and tenacity of Cuban exiles to the land such as Plasencia, Padron, Oliva, Ortez, and others. Tobacco has been a force of social stability, and the country is now one of the principal exporters of premium cigars in the world.

Cigar wrapper color varies from green (Double Claro or Candela) to black (Maduro or Oscuro) with a full range of browns in between.
Colorado is a medium brown color also known as EMS or English Market Selection as this used to be the color with more popularity in England than in America.

The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
Nicaraguan cigar wrappers are produced mainly in Esteli and Jalapa, both lands with volcanic soil and excellent climate for growing tobacco. Wrappers grown in Jalapa have sweet undertones. Corojo, Habana2000, Criollo, and Maduro wrappers are all produced in Nicaragua.

The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
The San Andres region in Mexico is known for producing some of the best tobacco in the world. The tobacco is stalk cut and valued for its rich dark color and used to make noteworthy maduro wrappers and binders.

Filler is the term used to describe the tobacco inside a cigar or the "guts" of the cigar.

Foundation cigars are for me a discovery. I tried them thanks to this pack. All cigars where great. I am not fond of full bodied strong cigars but the Gueguense Toro Huaco was super duper. The Charter Oak, the least expensive of the pack happens to be in my opinion the best cigar in this price range so I now got a whole box of them. The cigar cutter is a top quality cutter.

Cashed my smoke rings in on this for an Xmas present and it was excellent all around. I love the wise men the most but all were good stuff. The charter oak had a bit of a firm draw otherwise perfect marks. I like the cutter and pamphlet too.

My first Foundation cigars did not disappoint. This is how a sampler should be put together. Including a product guide should be a standard, and I hope more brands will do the same. The cutter, too, is beautiful and heavy duty. I haven’t used it because I don’t want to tarnish it, but trust me it’s sharp haha

Having been a big fan of the Drew Estates sun grown flying pigs and unable to get any, I ordered a handful of these to see what they were like. I was very impressed and they have turned out to be a fantastic smoke. The draw is absolutely superb and the taste for me is completely on point. I would say they’re a touch milder than the sun grown flying pig but the draw and construction is superior so it’s an all round preferable smoke for me.

I liked this cigar very much. It's a bit spicy but very flavorful. It did burn a little quicker than I expected for the size, but the payoffs were worth it. It was my first try with this stick, but I will be buying again soon to determine if it will fit into my rotation. Draws easy and smells great. Will smoke again.

Rusty iron reddish color. Every time I’ve smoked a cigar with a rosado wrapper two things happen and I swear it never fails, 1. The cigar has a nice aroma. 2. The cigar has a crappy burn, and needs many, many touch ups, canoes, etc. This cigar was no exception. I will not purchase another one.
