  The second in EP Carrillo's Family Series, the Encore is a medium to full-bodied 100% Nicaraguan puro with a very special secret. The tobacco used in making this cigar is cured and aged in "tercios", which is when yagua (palm tree bark) is wrapped around the tobacco to create bales that are then aged for 2 years. This process allows a natural two-way humidification system to form; humidity is automatically exchanged between the yagua and the tobacco as needed, letting the tobacco breathe optimally and age in the most desirable way. Notes of rich earth and tinges of both sweetness and spice come together to provide a smooth and sophisticated smoke you'll crave again and again.   A box pressed cigar is a cigar that has a square shape. Originally, this shape came from the practice of packing round cigars tightly in cardboard boxes which are then compacted using a manual press. The cigars are thus pressed into each other and become a "squarish" or semi-square shape. Today, cigar makers use square shaped molds or a wooden trunk press for their box pressed cigars, achieving a more defined square section.

  Ernesto Perez-Carrillo, a legend in the industry since the success in the 90s of his La Gloria Cubana brand, has now created E.P. Carrillo which he runs with his family. In 2009, he began making the cigars that bear his name in his own factory called Tabacalera La Alianza located in Santiago, Dominican Republic.
