Carrillo’s famed Tabacalera Alianza in the Dominican Republic, the Capa Especial sports an inviting natural Ecuadorian Sumatra-seed wrapper artfully draped over a Nicaraguan binder and a blend of Dominican and Nicaraguan tobaccos. From the first time that Eradio Pichardo and Luciano Meirelles co-founders of ACE Prime Cigars approached Jon Huber founder of Crowned Heads with some blend samples to when they finally developed the blend it took approximately 1,000 days (roughly three years). The cigar is named after this lengthily time of discovery. The Crowned Heads Mil Dias is a medium bodied cigar that is handmade in Nicaragua at the Tabacalera Pichardo factory. The Mil Dias’s mouth-watering Ecuadorian Habano maduro wrapper covers a Nicaraguan binder and a filler composed of tobaccos from Peru, Costa Rica, and Nicaragua. This four-nation blend offers a remarkable smoking experience with a rich complexity of flavors.

  Crowned Heads is no stranger to the concept of regional releases, and the endearingly-named Crowned Heads Tennessee Waltz perhaps makes the most sense, considering the acclaimed boutique brand calls it home. Meant to honor, and only be sold through, the state of Tennessee, the Tennessee Waltz is made by the Garcia family at the My Father Cigars factory in Esteli, Nicaragua, and features a dark and oily USA Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper on top of premium Nicaraguan binder and filler that creates a bold explosion of flavor containing meaty, complex notes of leather, citrus, and wheat. Although Crowned Heads allows one day a year for retailers nationwide to purchase this regional release, it remains extremely limited, and should be enjoyed as such.
