The Colbert Report did a comedy bit on NUB cigars back in 2009, naming them a sign of “humble opulence” in the middle of the recession. According to Colbert, NUBs are “shorter, cheaper versions of luxury cigars. I believe they are made by forcing full size cigars to swim in cold water. Nubs offer luxury at economy prices, just like Caviar Chap Stick and the Dom Perignon six-pack.”
