Its USA Connecticut Broadleaf maduro wrapper covers a Mexican San Andres maduro binder and a Honduran and Nicaraguan filler. The Tabernacle is handmade at AJ Fernandez’s Tabacalera Fernandez factory in Nicaragua. The vitola’s name and its artwork was inspired by the bible story of “David and Goliath.”

  The Tabernacle by Foundation Cigar Company is a hearty maduro cigar made in Nicaragua. The wrapper is a Connecticut Broadleaf, which is a leaf very dear to the company's founder, Nick Melillo, who worked closely with farmers in the Connecticut valley for over 10 years. The binder is San Andres Mexican and the fillers are Nicaraguan tobaccos from 3 different regions.

The plants are grown in full sun giving this cigar wrapper its characteristic sweetness. The Connecticut Broadleaf plant leaves are mainly processed as maduro tobacco. Today, Connecticut Broadleaf seeds are being grown in other countries besides the United States.
