The La Palina Goldie is a smooth medium-strength cigar that features an eye-catching fantail at the head. Its alluring light-brown Ecuadorian Habano wrapper gets draped over an Ecuadorian binder and a filler composed of leaves from Nicaragua and the Dominican Republic. The specially selected three-nation blend offers up spicy and woody notes with an underlying sweetness. The blend features the rare and prized Medio Tiempo leaves, known for their rich flavor. The La Palina Goldie is handmade at the famed El Titan de Bronze factory in Miami, Florida.

  Goldie was the wife of Sam Paley, who founded La Palina in 1896. La Palina Goldie collection was released in 2012 to celebrate the women in the cigar industry. Until 2016, each Goldie cigar was rolled by Maria Sierra, one of the first women trained to roll cigars in Cuba since 1967. She finished each cigar in the traditional Laguito style with a fan cap (El Laguito is the Cuban factory that makes Cohiba). Ms. Sierra no longer rolls these cigars but they are still carefully handrolled by one dedicated roller. The Goldie is blended with prized Medio Tiempo leaf, found on only 10% of tobacco plants. The wrapper is Ecuadorian Habano, binder from Ecuador and filler from Dominican Republic and Nicaragua. Only 2500 numbered boxes of 10 are made.

  Ecuadorian Habano wrapper has become one of the most used cigar wrappers in the market. Grown primarily by the Oliva family, this tobacco originated from Habano or H2000 seeds brought to Ecuador from Cuba. This leaf is rich and flavorful thanks to the temperate climate of Ecuador and the quality of its volcanic soil.

  Ecuador is the perfect place to grow binders, because it is located on the Equator and it has rich soils too. Ecuador supplies Connecticut and Sumatra type binders to many cigar factory in the world.
