The Don Julio Punta Espada Gigante is a commemorative cigar that was crafted in honor of Don Julio Samuel Reyes Fermin. He was a third generation tobacco grower who, at one time, operated the De Los Reyes Cigars family-owned enterprise, which is now into its sixth generation. The Punta Espada is a Dominican puro that sports a savory red-hued Corojo wrapper placed over a Corojo binder, and a filler composed of Habano and Ligero leaves. All of the tobacco used in this premium cigar is grown in the Reyes family plantation. Once lit, this medium to full-bodied giant offers a complexity of flavors with pleasing notes of cedar, natural tobacco, grass and hints of pepper and spice. This awesome flavor profile will appeal to both the contemporary and traditional aficionado. The Don Julio Punta Espada is handmade at the De Los Reyes factory in the Dominican Republic.

  Corojo wrapper was first developed in Cuba in the 1930s and quickly became popular as the wrapper on some of the best cigars. By the end of the 90s, Cuba stopped growing Corojo wrapper because of its susceptibility to pests and diseases. Ironically, Corojo wrapper has since become more popular outside of Cuba, as it has been replicated in tobacco farms in Nicaragua, Honduras, Ecuador and the Dominican Republic.
