John Segreto  I recently changed internet providers and now I can't connect to my cigar scanner gateway. Is there a way I can reset it?
Posted 12/28/2022
  • NeptuneCigar.com  After a few minutes of starting the gateway, you can use your phone, tablet, or PC to setup the Gateway. On the device you choose to configure the Wi-Fi,, go to your available Wi-Fi network connection and look for Cigar Scanner and click on it. You will need to enter the default password, which is CS2018CS. Once you are connected to the Gateway Wi-Fi, go to your browser on your device and type the gateway URL http://192.168.99.1 in the address window. When the page loads, enter default password CS2018 and click login. Once connected remember to change the password. Next, click on the Network tab. If you are going to use Wi-Fi, select “Repeater.” Under “Available SSID” look for your Wi-Fi network, select it and enter your Wi-Fi network’s Password. Then, click “Connect”. If you are using an Ethernet cable, click on “Router” and then click “Connect” This will reboot your Gateway and your device will disconnect from your Gateways Wi-Fi. Make sure you go back to your Avai

  • NeptuneCigar.com  Changing the battery on the Cigar Scanner Hygrometer /Thermometer is easy! Before You Start: You will need a penknife, a small Phillip's head screwdriver, and two fresh "AAA" batteries. Press and hold the sensor's power button (located on the back of the sensor) until you see the flashing blue light located on the front of the sensor. Place the sensor face down on top of a desk or table. Use the penknife to carefully remove the rubber seal around the sensor. Use the screwdriver to remove the screws. Use the penknife to carefully pry open the sensor's body. Remove the old batteries and properly discard them. Insert the new batteries. Be mindful of the polarity. Replace the screws. Be careful not to over tighten them. Replace the seal. Turn the sensor on by pressing and holding the power button until you see the steady blue light (it will only come on momentarily).

Posted 12/25/2019
  • NeptuneCigar.com  It is better to connect by Ethernet, but either way works well. The important thing is to make sure the Gateway and sensor are within 300 feet of each other. If your internet router has PoE (Power over Ethernet) or if you have a PoE Switch, you do not need an electrical outlet to power the Gateway.

Posted 9/2/2019
  • NeptuneCigar.com  The Cigar Scanner sensor is calibrated at the factor. If you notice there is a difference between the CS sensor and the actual relative humidity, you can adjust the variance using the CS app. To do so, please open your Cigar Scanner app and log in. Go to My Humidors. Click on the red pencil icon. Locate "Humidity offset:" If the real humidity is 2% higher than your reading, then enter 2. If it is 2% lower enter -2.

Clifton Burns   I just received my scanner and it's not picking up my WiFi , first question is the light suppose to stay on once you power up and the same for the sensor? I hate to return it I was looking forward to seeing this work. Any suggestions?
Posted 6/26/2019
  • NeptuneCigar.com  Please make sure the Gateway is plugged into a power supply and turn it on. You should see rainbow colored lights. Depending on how your device was configured at the factory, the lights may or may not stay on. Prior to the next step, please make sure your home Wi-Fi network is working. On your smart-phone, go to the Wi-Fi Settings, look for “Cigar Scanner Gateway [XXXXX]”. Join the network. When prompted enter the default password: CS2018CS. Once connected, please refer to the instruction booklet provided with your kit to complete the set-up process. When you turn on the sensor, a blue light will come on momentarily. This lets you know it is “on”. It only stays on for a few seconds. This is to conserve the sensor’s battery.

Anonymous  Any screen shots of what integration with the Cigar Scanner app looks like? I just spent a few hundred buck on a competitive product, not realizing this solution was even a thing until I installed the CS app. Second question, is there a feature roadmap available for this product? I'd need more than one sensor per humidor (several hundred sticks in each) and creating "phantom" blank/empty humidors as suggested elsewhere is not an elegant solution.
Posted 1/15/2019
  • NeptuneCigar.com  At this time the app only allows for one sensor per humidor, but you can have different humidors(i.e.: desktop right, desktop left). There is no limit to the number of humidors or sensors you can have. Cigar Scanner is working a tutorial video to explain all features and a how to of the app and sensors. This is coming soon. Roadmap: Voice Assistant integration, cigar recommendation thru AI, Electronic humidifier and much more!

  • Anonymous  Thanks for the response! Good luck with the hardware side. I wish I'd have seen this before I purchased the other monitoring kit a few days ago. When it comes to active humidification, which you mention in the roadmap, you have a window of opportunity right now. There's a prominent vendor already doing this (I'm sure you're aware), but their "3.0" app/hardware combo is unbelievably buggy. Ask me how I know.

Posted 12/31/2018
  • NeptuneCigar.com  Thank you for your inquiry. Cigar Scanner is working on a way to let you calibrate the sensor through the app. It will be available in future updates. The Cigar Scanner sensors were calibrated at the factory and tested against other hygrometers and found to be accurate within +/- 1%. You might want to test your other hygrometers for accuracy and to determine which one is off. To learn how to calibrate your hygrometers, click here https://www.neptunecigar.com/tips/how-to-calibrate-your-hygrometer You might want to purchase a calibration kit to test for accuracy. Tommy  Can the humidity sensor be adjusted
Posted 12/25/2018
  • NeptuneCigar.com  Hi Tommy, The sensor’s actual settings cannot be adjusted. However, you can receive notifications if your humidor’s humidity or temperature ranges are not within your ideal range. To adjust the levels, go to the “My Humidors” section of your Cigar Scanner app. Then, click on the “Red Pen” icon. In “Humidor Settings” scroll down until you get to “Be Notified if:” section. From here, you can adjust the levels. Next, turn on the “Sudden change of condition (humidor open/close):” button. Then, scroll down and press the “Save” button.

Brent Jamison  Can 2 sensors be assigned to one humidor (think large wineador top & bottom)?
Posted 12/5/2018
  • NeptuneCigar.com  Of course! You can assign two (or more) sensors to one humidor. And the great thing about the Cigar Scanner Wi-Fi Hygrometer is that you can connect both sensors to the same gateway. Extra sensors are available through Neptune Cigars.
    Replied 12/6/2018
  • Brent Jamison  I went ahead and purchased based on the above advice given. While 2 sensors can be placed in one humidor, the cigar scanner application does not seem to allow you to assign more than one sensor to a humidor. Am I missing something? Also, who should I contact for technical support. The sensors seems to only sporadically update, and would like more information on how you set update frequency?
    Replied 12/13/2018
  • NeptuneCigar.com  Hi Brent Jamison, Thank you for your questions. For the time being, the best way to assign two sensors to one humidor is to create two virtual humidors in the Cigar Scanner app and assign one to each sensor. For example, create a "My Humidor Top" and "My Humidor Bottom". You can assign all of your cigars to one virtual humidor, and the other one can be empty. Or, you can organize the humidors however you like. As for the updates/readings, the sensors update every 5 seconds. However, the data is updated only if there is a change of at least +/- 1% in relative humidity or +/- 1 degree in temperature. If there are no changes to your humidor, you will not see any in the graphs or get a notification. However, you will get notified if the sensor's battery is low or that the gateway goes offline. Cigar Scanner will be sending you an email with their customer support info.

Scott  Is it possible to change the batteries in the hygrometer? I just received my kit and cannot get it working. The blue light on the hygrometer only stays on a a second or two when I hold the button in. The instructions say it should remain solid blue. When I hold it in again it comes back on and flashes a few times and goes off again. Tried setting it up multiple times. I think the batteries are low or dead. The bridge is working properly. Please advise.
Posted 11/30/2018
  • NeptuneCigar.com  Yes! You can change the batteries on the hygrometer/thermometer sensor. But before we explain how to change them, here is brief explanation of how the sensor's light works. When you turn on the sensor, the blue light will remain steady for a few seconds and then go off. But don't worry, the sensor itself is still on. The light goes off to help conserve battery life. To change them, carefully remove the oval seal that is around the back of the sensor. Once removed you will see four screws. To remove them, you will need a Phillips head screwdriver. After you remove the screws, lift off the plastic body. Now you should see the two "AAA" batteries. Once you have replaced the batteries, put the body back on, install the screws, and replace the seal. Note: the batteries that came with the unit should last you two – three years.

  • NeptuneCigar.com  The price that was online before was for the sensor only. The sensor needs the gateway to operate so that is why it is now sold as a kit : sensor + gateway. There was also a price increase due to a recent increase in import tariffs.

  • Anonymous  What good is advertising a sensor price only on your website when it can't possibly be used on its own. I think you're just fishing for answers and trying to come up with something. It clearly isn't as intended and now you're just trying to cover what you can. Yeah I don't trust people like that and what kind of support I should expect later on if/when something stops working. I'll pass.
    Replied 11/25/2018
  • NeptuneCigar.com  The sensor is also sold separately for the users who need to add extra sensors to their starter kit. This is the only product that appeared online as we were waiting for Cigar Scanner to release the complete kit. As for support, we believe the track record of the app speaks for itself and it is the reason that Neptune sells this product. We also stand behind every product that we sell with a 30 day no questions asked return policy. Of course there are other options in the market for digital hygrometers with bluetooth enabled (XIKAR, Boved) but all of them require that you be located within a certain distance of the sensor (not very practical). In that sense, this is a revolutionary technology.

Description

Imagine being able to monitor your humidor's condition anytime, anywhere. Imagine being able to track and organize your cigars from wherever you are.

You can do all that with the Cigar Scanner Wi-Fi Hygrometer and Thermometer Starter Kit! Works with the free Cigar Scanner app, which lets you identify cigars by taking a picture of it, manage your cigar collection, write and read reviews, share your cigars with other aficionados, and much more.

The Cigar Scanner app is FREE. For Android devices, you can download the app through the Google Play Store. For Apple devices, you can access Cigar Scanner through Safari as a web app by going to www.cigarscanner.com from your mobile device. Note: The Cigar Scanner app is no longer available through the Apple App Store due to recent changes in Apple’s policy. Download Cigar Scanner as a web app at www.cigarscanner.com.

Cigar Scanner Wi-Fi Hygrometer and Thermometer is the only Wi-Fi enabled sensor in the world that informs you if:

* Your humidor's humidity level is under/over your ideal range
* Your humidor's temperature is under/over your ideal range
* Your humidor is opened

Other digital sensors in the market work with Bluetooth so that you have to be in the vicinity of your humidor to monitor. With Cigar Scanner, you can check on your humidor from anywhere in the world using your smartphone. To ensure that you never lose data and your humidor is never out of range, the Cigar Scanner Wi-Fi Sensor will alert you when batteries are running low or sensor is offline due to power or internet issues. You can count on 24/7 technical support from the Cigar Scanner team!

No other Wi-Fi sensor in the market offers the convenience and user friendliness of the Cigar Scanner App to manage your cigar collection.

The Cigar Scanner Wi-Fi Hygrometer and Thermometer Starter Kit includes:

* Gateway device
* USB cable
* Instruction manual
* Battery operated hygrometer and thermometer sensor (the sensor uses two, long-life "AAA" batteries, included).

For the lucky souls that own more than one humidor, you can purchase additional Hygrometer Sensors. You will need at least one gateway device for all of your humidors and you can connect up to 200 sensors to one gateway. You can manage all humidors from one single account.
