The cigars are handmade in Nicaragua. Nicholas Fusco, the founder of El Mago Cigars, created the brand in honor of his grandparents Maria and Gonzalo Torre. The Triunfante cigar line is named after his grandparents’ ability to overcome the many obstacles they faced. “Triunfante” is Spanish for triumphant.

The weather conditions, with a nearly permanent cloudy sky, provide a natural shade, protecting the wrapper plants from sunshine and allowing the tobacco to grow thin and light. This climate allows tobacco growers to grow Connecticut-seed wrapper in the shade without shade cloths, resulting in more economical wrapper.

  The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together. 
  Corojo tobacco was first developed in Cuba in the 1930s and quickly became popular as the wrapper on some of the best cigars. By the end of the 90s, Cuba stopped growing Corojo because of its susceptibility to pests and diseases. Ironically, Corojo has since become more popular outside of Cuba, as it has been replicated in tobacco farms in Nicaragua, Honduras, Ecuador and the Dominican Republic.
