Cigar Band
You can learn a lot from a cigar’s band (or ring). The practice of placing a paper band around a cigar to identify the brand has been around since the mid 1800’s. Overtime, cigar bands have become more elaborate. So what can the band tell you? The ring carries the brand’s name, the country of origin, and if the cigar has been hand-rolled. Some cigar makers have been adding a second band to indicate its line. For example, the Davidoff’s Millennium line has the Davidoff brand as the main ring and a secondary ring just underneath it denoting the Millennium line. Many cigar rings have intricate and colorful designs that make them prized collectibles.
