How do I setup and use the Cigar Scanner Hygrometer?

Turning the Hygrometer ON/OFF

To TURN ON the hygrometer, press and hold the button, located on the back of the unit, for 5 seconds until a steady blue light comes on the front of the unit (the blue light will go off after a few seconds, but don't worry your hygrometer is still on).

To TURN OFF the hygrometer, press and hold the button for 5 seconds until the blue light starts blinking.

How to Change the Battery on the Hygrometer

Your Cigar Scanner hygrometer comes equipped with two "AAA" batteries (already installed). The batteries should last you two to three years. To replace them, follow these simple steps:

  1. Place the device.
  2. Peel back the rubber seal.
  3. Remove the four screws with a small Phillips head screwdriver. Remove the cover.
  4. Remove the old batteries.
  5. Install the new batteries.
  6. Close the cover, re-install the screws and the rubber seal.

How to Connect the Gateway

There are two ways to connect the Gateway: Ethernet or to an AC outlet with a USB connection. Regardless of the connection, make sure the Gateway device is placed no more than 300 feet (approx. 100 meters) from the Cigar Scanner Hygrometer.

Ethernet:

  1. Connect an Ethernet cable to the Ethernet port on the Gateway unit.
  2. Make sure the Ethernet cable is connected to your modem.
  3. Press the ON/OFF button on the Gateway to the ON position.
  4. Once ON, you will see a rainbowcolored, rotating light.
  5. When you connect the Gateway to the Internet you will see a solidcolored rotating light.

USB:

  1. Plug the USB cable into the Gateway's USB port.
  2. Plug the other end of the cable to a wall outlet with a USB connector.
  3. Press the ON/OFF button on the Gateway to the ON position.
  4. Once ON, you will see a rainbowcolored, rotating light.
  5. When you connect the Gateway to the Internet you will see a solidcolored rotating light.

How to Connect the Cigar Scanner Gateway to the Internet

  1. Download the Cigar Scanner app to your smartphone or mobile device.
  2. Setup your Cigar Scanner account, and create a humidor by following the app's instructions.
  3. Go to the WiFi Settings on your smartphone or mobile device and choose the Cigar Scanner Gateway C0089A network.
  4. The password is CS2018CS.
  5. Next go to a browser on your smartphone or mobile device and type in 192.168.99.1 in the address window.
  6. When the page loads, you will see the log-in page, enter CS2018 as password. Then, click on log in.
  7. Next, click on the Network tab, and turn on the REPEATER button.
  8. Under "Available SSID" Choose your home network and enter the password for your home WiFi.
  9. Press the "Connect" button.
  10. Go to the Cigar Scanner app and click the My Humidors button.
  11. Locate the Pairing Code on the hygrometer sensor. The Pairing Code is located on the sticker that is on the sensor.
  12. Under Sensor Setting, enter the Pairing code in the field next to "MAC address". Click "pair".
  13. Under the "Be Notified if:" section, set the conditions you want for your humidifier.
  14. Slide the "Sudden change of condition" button" to the ON position.
  15. Press the "Save" button.

Troubleshooting 

If you are having problems connecting the to the app, check your firewall settings to see if Port 1883 is blocked. If it is you may need to contact your Internet Service Provider. You can check the port at this link: https://www.portcheckers.com/

05/15/2020AnonymousNot working out of the box and no tech support at all. Super disappointed. I have it wired directly to the a router. The correct MACID on the app and I can not get it to show temp or humidity. Will improve rating if I can get it to work.
