The Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust Sobremesa Tapa Negra opens with a layered mix of cream, cedar, and gentle pepper. The core profile is smooth and balanced, gradually building into light baking spice, earth, and a soft natural sweetness owing to the Nicaraguan sun-grown without losing its restrained, smooth character.

It’s a new take on the Sobremesa Brûlée concept from Dunbarton Tobacco & Trust, adding just enough edge to the final act while keeping the rest of the cigar familiar. The line debuts in Corona Gorda and Toro, both produced at Fábrica de Tabacos Joya de Nicaragua S.A., with a PCA 2026 showcase ahead of June shipping.

Ecuador is the perfect place to grow wrappers, because it is located on the Equator! And it has rich soils too. The weather conditions, with a nearly permanent cloudy sky, provide a natural shade, protecting the wrapper plants from sunshine and allowing the tobacco to grow thin and light. This climate allows tobacco growers to grow Connecticut-seed wrapper in the shade without shade cloths, resulting in more economical wrapper.
Nicaraguan
The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
Nicaraguan cigar wrappers are produced mainly in Esteli and Jalapa, both lands with volcanic soil and excellent climate for growing tobacco. Wrappers grown in Jalapa have sweet undertones. Corojo, Habana2000, Criollo, and Maduro wrappers are all produced in Nicaragua.
