The blend was developed by Joel and Edel Gomez-Sanchez, third-generation cigar crafters and Micallef Cigar’s exclusive blenders. The cigars are handmade at the Micallef Cigars factory in Nicaragua. I've smoked gas station"cigars" for many years, Backwoods predominantly. My buddy bought a couple of sticks out in Indy, and I chose the Micallef Black[of the two options given)as he said he'd never smoked an Italian before. Dozens of sticks and year later, Micallef Black are still my favorite cigar. First third is so so, but wouldn't even consider changing for fear of messing with the second and third thirds flavor. That leather punch at the second third that tapers to a peppered final is a winner for me. I use the first third to "settle in" anyhow, pulling just enough to flavor the 2nd & 3rd thirds properly. First "Box of cigars", and thus far the only box even up for consideration.

Mexican San Andres chalky cocoa note. Espresso. Black and red pepper. Black pepper baking spice retrohale. Walnut and oak. Dry oak on the long finish.

Nice looking and fantastic value flavors were sweet with a slight spice and chocolaty. Construction was not perfect a little snug draw and burned hot and a little fast for a while developing a hard cone on the ash but for the price I would revisit

The burn was only slightly off but otherwise fine, there was no need to touch it up except when it canoed. The Aroma was amazing, however, the taste was only ever okay in the first half it was a little bitter but I got notes of pepper and some leather, the last half got better with coca and some light vanilla, however, it still had a little bitterness up until the very end where it mellowed and tasted really nice. Definitely a good daily cigar with coffee, especially for the price.
