EP Carrillo Pledge Purple Robusto 5"1/4" * 52

The Pledge Purple from Casa Carillo is a rare, aged expression of the original Pledge batch created by master blender Ernesto Perez-Carrillo over 10 years ago. The Pledge Purple is a tweaked blend that stays true to the formula that made the Pledge name famous, using the exact same wrapper (from the same harvest) as the original release, but now with 10 years of aging. This rare and limited release is sure to be one of the finest aged cigars available.

The Robusto is a short Churchill size, traditionally 5 to 5.5 inches by a 50 ring gauge.

A box pressed cigar is a cigar that has a square shape. Originally, this shape came from the practice of packing round cigars tightly in cardboard boxes which are then compacted using a manual press. The cigars are thus pressed into each other and become a "squarish" or semi-square shape. Today, cigar makers use square shaped molds or a wooden trunk press for their box pressed cigars, achieving a more defined square section.

This cigar is 5"1/4 inches long, or 133.35 mm.

Most cigars are manufactured in the Caribbean and Central America.
The Dominican Republic is the world's first producer of cigars. Most factories are located in Santiago, in the center of the island, and in close proximity to the tobacco fields grown in the fertile Cibao Valley. While tobacco and cigars have always traditionally been produced in the Dominican Republic, many Cuban cigar makers established in the Dominican Republic after the Cuban communist revolution, elevating the quality of Dominican cigars.

The cigar ring gauge corresponds to the diameter of a cigar, this cigar has a ring gauge of 52, so his diameter is 52/64 inches or 20.57 mm.

Cigar wrapper color varies from green (Double Claro or Candela) to black (Maduro or Oscuro) with a full range of browns in between.
Maduro wrapper can go from dark coffee brown with a reddish tint to blackish brown (the latter also called Oscuro).

Handmade cigars are completely made by hand from start to finish.

Casa Carrillo is considered one of the highest rated cigar manufacturers in the world. Based in the Dominican Republic, it is owned by master cigar crafter Ernesto Perez-Carrillo. Besides creating Carrillo’s portfolio of brands that includes the EP Carrillo Inch, EP Carrillo Encore, and the EP Carrillo Pledge, Casa Carrillo produces cigars for such brands as the Alec & Bradley Gatekeeper and Crowned Heads Four Kicks among others.

The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.

The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
The San Andres region in Mexico is known for producing some of the best tobacco in the world. The tobacco is stalk cut and valued for its rich dark color and used to make noteworthy maduro wrappers and binders.

Filler is the term used to describe the tobacco inside a cigar or the "guts" of the cigar.
