This cigar features a beautiful oily Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper draped over what are actually two different binders, Mexican San Andres and Nicaraguan. The fillers are all Nicaraguan making for a bold and spicy smoke with notes of earth, cedar, and dark chocolate.The blend was rolled at the Casa Carillo Factory in the Dominican Republic and production was limited to only 2,500 boxes.   This special Veteran's Day release was blended by Ernesto Perez Carillo in collaboration with Lionel H. McKoy, U.S. Navy Veteran and longtime Casa Carillo employee. It was originally released in 2025 and was designed to be a bold, potent cigar made in very limited quantities. This cigar was made with U.S armed servicemen and women in mind, and a portion of the proceeds go directly to the Fisher House Foundation. To quote Ernesto, "Battleborn is not just about tobacco — it’s about respect rolled into every leaf. It’s our way of saying thank you.”

  Ernesto Perez-Carrillo, a legend in the industry since the success in the 90s of his La Gloria Cubana brand, has now created E.P. Carrillo which he runs with his family. In 2009, he began making the cigars that bear his name in his own factory called Tabacalera La Alianza located in Santiago, Dominican Republic.

  The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
  Connecticut Broadleaf is grown in the United States' Connecticut Valley and is prized for its dark, oily, full flavored and aromatic characteristics. The plants are grown in full sun giving this cigar wrapper its characteristic sweetness. The Connecticut Broadleaf plant leaves are mainly processed as maduro tobacco. Today, Connecticut Broadleaf seeds are being grown in other countries besides the United States.
