This cigar showed up to the party dressed like it was about to throw hands, but once I lit it up, it said, “Relax, bro, I’m just here to have a good time.” The first third starts off smooth and creamy, with some cedar and toasted nut flavors. The sweetened cap gives you that little sweetness on the lips, making the cigar feel like it’s trying to sweet-talk you into buying another one. By the second third, the coffee notes start showing up, and the toasted nuts keep the party going. There’s a little pepper on the retrohale, just enough to remind you this is still a cigar and not a cup of coffee with a wrapper on it. The final third keeps things mellow and enjoyable, with the cedar and coffee flavors sticking around. No unnecessary drama, no crazy attitude, just a smooth smoke doing what it came to do.This cigar is like that friend who says they’re only staying for one drink but somehow ends up closing the place down. Smooth, sweet, easygoing, and a whole lot of fun. If you enjoy a mellow cigar with good flavor and a sweet tip, the Baccarat Belicoso Maduro deserves a spot in your humidor.

After my amazing experience with the natural version (Baccarat Havana The Game Belicoso), and my developing a taste for Honduran tobacco and maduro wrappers, I decided to keep this one for a boost later in life. Well, that completely backfired. This was a very underwhelming experience. The draw was tight (I adjusted with a PerfectDraw type tool). The flavor was ok at best, and began going downhill around halfway. By the time I reached the final third I was ready to quit. It was getting bitter, the draw was tightening again, and the burn was out of control. Might buy again just to see if it was a bad stick, or if this just isn’t the cigar for me.
