Back in 2011, Tatuaje Cigar released the Mexican Experiment it was a huge hit but it had a limited release. After a brief hiatus, the Mexican Experiment is back by popular demand, and in all of its full-strength splendor. A dark, delicious Mexican San Andres wrapper surrounds the Mexican Experiment’s binder and filler made of premium Nicaraguan tobaccos. As it was when it was first release, the Tatuaje Mexican Experiment will be a limited release cigar. So if you run into it, make sure you buy a bundle because there’s no telling when it will be back again.

Most cigars are manufactured in the Caribbean and Central America.
Despite many decades of war and revolution in this Central American country, the cigar industry has thrived due to the hard work and tenacity of Cuban exiles to the land such as Plasencia, Padron, Oliva, Ortez, and others. Tobacco has been a force of social stability, and the country is now one of the principal exporters of premium cigars in the world.

Cigar wrapper color varies from green (Double Claro or Candela) to black (Maduro or Oscuro) with a full range of browns in between.
Maduro wrapper can go from dark coffee brown with a reddish tint to blackish brown (the latter also called Oscuro).

Mexican San Andres Maduro
The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
Mexican tobacco is very dark and the best leaves can be used as maduro wrappers. San Andres Maduro is a thick, medium bodied dark leaf, also called San Andres Morron. Like Connecticut Broadleaf, San Andres Maduro is stalk cut and used for binder and wrapper.

Nicaragua
The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Nicaraguan cigar binders are produced mainly in Esteli and Jalapa, both lands with volcanic soil and excellent climate for growing tobacco. Binders grown in Jalapa have sweet undertones. Corojo, Habana2000, Criollo, and Maduro binders are all produced in Nicaragua.

Filler is the term used to describe the tobacco inside a cigar or the "guts" of the cigar.

The "Garcia Family Industrial Park" located in Esteli, Nicaragua is a seven-acre complex with 9 buildings, over 1900 employees, where the Garcias supervise their cigar production from the tobacco field to the roller's table. Their Miami headquarters house 12 rollers that make all of the company's "handmade in Miami" brands.

The Tatuaje M.E. looked fantastic light delicate barnyard down the wrapper with hints of a soft wood the foot was light hay & Graham cracker.... Xikar V-cut & the dry-draw is a little looser that I prefer so it's gonna test my patience so I don't over-heat the cherry Xikar quad torch FIRST DRAW: gave several notes of wood: an Oak Walnut & the retrohale was heavy pine but bot to the point of any burning sensations. This cigar requires a retrohale to get the full experience! About 20 minutes in & the burn is a touch wonky but not in need of any touch-ups As the first 1/3 ends: this began as a very woodsy stick which I found to be an unexpected treat! & at the start of the 2d third the burn has magically corrected itself & is now razor sharp! The 2nd third starts identical to the end of the first third no transitions hus far.. however the woodsy notes are of a bright nature & quite enjoyable... some light hay notes have joined the ensemble at the end of the 2nd third I didn't find any major transactions throught the stick but when the hay joined in the wood & hay played great together the burn was razor sharp throught the 2nd third however, it began a bit wonky at the end... If you enjoy woodsy notes in your cigar then this stick is for you! I found this cigar to be of the quality that I've ALWAYS found with Tatuaje products....

Immediately one of my favorite sticks! I've recently smoked more of the Tatuaje line and have been impressed. This cigar is my favorite. Small yet powerful in a beautiful wrapper; the burn and draw were perfect and the coffee/expresso/chocolate explode on your palate! I love this cigar!

Very solid stick - dry baker's chocolate/cocoa all the way through, from light-up to nub. No major transitions, just a tasty solid smoke. I think the ME II is a little more intense. This was pleasant enough, and I might buy again (already have a 2nd one in the humidor). Well made, a bit less interesting to me than the comparable Jericho Hill Willy Lee.
