H. Upmann 1844 Special Edition Barbier

The H. Upmann 1844 Special Edition Barbier cigar with its striking barber pole wrapper is an excellent expression of the fine art of cigar crafting. It is also a tribute cigar to the brand’s founder’s German roots. “Barbier” is German for barber. The wrapper combines an Ecuadorian Connecticut Shade leaf with an Ecuadorian Sumatra-seed leaf to create its lovely contrasting barber-pole appearance. Also, the two leaves add depth to the cigar’s delightful smoking experience. The wrapper sheaths an Indonesian binder and a filler composed of Nicaraguan, Dominican Republic, and undisclosed broadleaf leaves. The cigars are handmade by Tabacalera de García in the Dominican Republic.

I love the look of these barber pole cigars. This one had a tough draw and wouldn’t burn perfectly. The flavor seemed good, but I had to pull on it too hard causing the smoke to get too hot. Maybe I got a bad one. I’d try it again because of the flavor, but not before trying a few others first.

Nice stick. Smooth with a hint salty pork , as I went through the smoke got leather and earth and grass. Yes grass. Paired with a rumchata and coffee. V cut and overall a good cigar. I would buy again. A nice shout out to the folks at ? also.

Not the size I normally smoke, great looking stick, draw was a little tight, the big issue for me was the taste or the lack of. There are other Upman that rate better in this department. Need to try a larger ring gage!
