Davidoff's eternal desire to create new and exciting cigars has led them to Clermont, Florida home of the Florida Sun Grown tobacco. This invigorating tobacco is known for its flavor and aroma, and it serves as the main filler for the Davidoff Florida Selection 2018 Limited Edition. To heighten the Florida Selection's smoking experience Davidoff blended this robust tobacco with Dominican Yamasá Ligero, Piloto Visus, and San Vincente Seco, plus Nicaraguan Estelí Visus filler tobaccos. Davidoff wrapped this special blend with a Nicaraguan Habano binder that is expertly draped by an Ecuadorian Habano 2000 wrapper. All these great tobaccos culminate to make the Davidoff Florida Selection a full-strength cigar with a full-bodied profile that hints of licorice, fruit, and spices. The Davidoff Florida Selection 2018 Limited Edition cigar is only available in the United States, and only 2,500 boxes of 10 cigars were made, so gets yours now before it's gone.
Cigar Origin
Dominican Republic
Most cigars are manufactured in the Caribbean and Central America.
The Dominican Republic is the world's first producer of cigars. Most factories are located in Santiago, in the center of the island, and in close proximity to the tobacco fields grown in the fertile Cibao Valley. While tobacco and cigars have always traditionally been produced in the Dominican Republic, many Cuban cigar makers established in the Dominican Republic after the Cuban communist revolution, elevating the quality of Dominican cigars.

Wrapper
Ecuadorian Habano
The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
Ecuadorian Habano wrapper has become one of the most used cigar wrappers in the market. Grown primarily by the Oliva family, this tobacco originated from Habano or H2000 seeds brought to Ecuador from Cuba. This leaf is rich and flavorful thanks to the temperate climate of Ecuador and the quality of its volcanic soil.
Binder
Nicaragua
The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Nicaraguan cigar binders are produced mainly in Esteli and Jalapa, both lands with volcanic soil and excellent climate for growing tobacco. Binders grown in Jalapa have sweet undertones. Corojo, Habana2000, Criollo, and Maduro binders are all produced in Nicaragua.

Wrapper
Ecuadorian Connecticut Shade
The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
Ecuador is the perfect place to grow wrappers, because it is located on the Equator! And it has rich soils too. The weather conditions, with a nearly permanent cloudy sky, provide a natural shade, protecting the wrapper plants from sunshine and allowing the tobacco to grow thin and light. This climate allows tobacco growers to grow Connecticut-seed wrapper in the shade without shade cloths, resulting in more economical wrapper.

The Davidoff Maduro Series cigar line was first released in 2008 and featured a Nicaraguan Habano wrapper. This sought-after cigar was placed on hiatus in 2016. It has since been re-introduced only this time it sports a savory, dark chocolatey Ecuadorian maduro wrapper. To enhance the cigar’s overall performance, the cigar’s wrapper uses higher-priming wrapper leaves (aka Corte #7). These leaves receive the most sunlight because they grow on the uppermost part of the plant. Once picked, the leaves are naturally fermented for 16 months, which is twice as long as a typical fermentation process. The leaves are then carefully aged. The entire lengthy and labor-intensive process greatly contributes to the cigar’s intensity and complexity. When ready the wrapper is carefully applied to a Mexican binder which houses filler leaves from the Dominican Republic. The Davidoff Maduro Series cigar appeals to the aficionado who is looking for a refined and absorbing smoking indulgence.

In 2013, Davidoff released the Davidoff Nicaragua (aka Black Band) cigar. It showcases the fine tobacco that comes from this Central American country. To celebrate this sought-after cigar’s first decade, they released the Davidoff Nicaragua 10th Anniversary. It is a limited-edition cigar that features tobaccos that have been carefully aged for a combined total of 45 years! Its blend consists of an Ecuadorian maduro wrapper, a Jalapa, Nicaragua binder and filler leaves from Condega, Esteli, and Jalapa in Nicaragua. The Esteli leaves were aged in rum casks, which adds a unique dimension to the cigar’s overall flavor profile. This is a must-have cigar for aficionados who are looking to experience new and exciting flavors.
Strength
Wrapper Color
Maduro
Cigar wrapper color varies from green (Double Claro or Candela) to black (Maduro or Oscuro) with a full range of browns in between.
Maduro wrapper can go from dark coffee brown with a reddish tint to blackish brown (the latter also called Oscuro).
Wrapper
Ecuadorian
The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
Ecuador is the perfect place to grow wrappers, because it is located on the Equator! And it has rich soils too. The weather conditions, with a nearly permanent cloudy sky, provide a natural shade, protecting the wrapper plants from sunshine and allowing the tobacco to grow thin and light. Ecuador supplies Connecticut and Sumatra type wrappers to many cigar factory in the world.
