As a globally recognized jazz musician, Avo Uvezian, turned cigar maker, would add a little improvisation to a well-known song. He did it to give his fans a startling yet pleasurable listening experience. The AVO Unexpected does the same thing. Each Unexpected cigar is a toro but with a different ring gauge. To add to its unpredictability, AVO Cigars is not disclosing the composition of this premium cigar. However, it does have a light-brown wrapper, and the Unexpected was aged for six years after it was rolled. Most cigars are manufactured in the Caribbean and Central America.
The Dominican Republic is the world's first producer of cigars. Most factories are located in Santiago, in the center of the island, and in close proximity to the tobacco fields grown in the fertile Cibao Valley. While tobacco and cigars have always traditionally been produced in the Dominican Republic, many Cuban cigar makers established in the Dominican Republic after the Cuban communist revolution, elevating the quality of Dominican cigars.

The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Dominican Republic is a traditional tobacco-growing country. In the 60's, a Cuban seed was introduced and the resulting tobacco, called Piloto Cubano, became famous as a good substitute of the Cuban tobacco that was no longer allowed to enter the USA. Piloto Cubano is full bodied while the Dominican Olor tobacco is milder but more aromatic.

I think the Unexpected series is one of AVO’s best releases ever. l confess I love them all, they are good looking, well balanced… and even though it’s almost a whole new terrain for this brand, which started with the Avo Nicaragua and then Avo Ritmo, one has to admit it has reached a new level of expertise with the Unexpected Series. The Tradition is my favorite blend. It appeals to my sight, my sense of smell and my palate, it has everything I like and look for in a cigar: flavor, strength and complexity. With a mix of pepper and wood the cigar starts very promising. Some vanilla and fruity notes appear to make the smoke a lot more interesting by leveling and adding different nuances to the mix. I can taste sweet and some subtle saltiness that balances and add to this wonderful array of flavors. The cigar is delicious from the beginning to the very end. Satisfying in all of the crucial points: appearance, flavor, complexity and construction, maybe a little high when it comes to the price but, if you overlook that detail it’s very close to perfection. If you are up to experiment with new flavors or you are not into alcohol I suggest to try this cigar with Ginger Tea. It will take you to heaven!

What a cigar. Starts dry, but after 0.5 inch, a sweet milky chocolate powder kicks in. Very smooth and rich. Draw is wide open, smoke output is copious. Definitely wish they do this for their regular lines

A decent cigar but nothing very special. Nice aroma. Get the "Unexpected Passion" if you want to try the best offering in the "Unexpected" line-up.

Pleasant aromatics on this rare Peruvian tobacco. The draw is a bit snug but the flavors make up for it. Excellent burn time. Won't be buying boxes of it but it was an enjoyable stick.

Very good stuff. Flavors and smoke are richer than the Avo "Unexpected Celebration". The color is a rich dark brown and very inviting. Draws perfectly, good smoke output and pleasant aromatics. Worth trying!

Well, the first review. First off the color of the cigar is a very aged looking golden brown. Gets you curious how it will taste. Once lit, this cigar has an effortless draw that outputs massive amounts of smoke. Both the aroma and flavor are very smooth with earth and cedar notes. The smoke itself is very light. Burns well. Glad I tried it but won't be buying boxes of this.
