Davidoff Royal Release Salomones 8 1/4 * 54, Box of 10

An exclusive Aromatica Dominicana wrapper that has been aged for eight years envelops the Davidoff Royal Release’s Habano Ecuadorian binder along with the specially blended filler which is made from San Vicente and Criollo Ligero tobacco leaves. The Davidoff Royal Release is hand-rolled by a specially selected team of eight rollers. All of this culminates in a medium-strength cigar that produces an elegantly smooth flavor. A box of ten cigars are carefully nestled in a distinctive royal-blue lacquer box. The Davidoff Royal Release will truly be a regal addition to any cigar aficionado’s humidor.

The Dominican Republic is the world's first producer of cigars. Most factories are located in Santiago, in the center of the island, and in close proximity to the tobacco fields grown in the fertile Cibao Valley. While tobacco and cigars have always traditionally been produced in the Dominican Republic, many Cuban cigar makers established in the Dominican Republic after the Cuban communist revolution, elevating the quality of Dominican cigars.

The main tobacco region in the Dominican Republic is the Cibao valley in the northern part of the island. In the 60s, Cuban seeds were brought here by exiled Cuban cigar makers and found that they grew exceptional cigar tobacco, called Piloto Cubano. The native Dominican tobacco, called Olor, is milder than Piloto Cubano yet more aromatic. The first company to grow Dominican tobacco for cigar wrapper was Tabacalera Arturo Fuente in 1995.

The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Habano Ecuador is a Cuban-seed tobacco that is grown and cultivated in Ecuador using traditional Cuban methods.

Is it pricey? Yes. Was it worth it? Yes. Consistent, medium smooth flavor and burn. Definitely going to grab more of these for future special occasions.

Draw started slow because of the nib tip, but had plenty of smoke. This is a good cigar, and must have sold well because the price went up. I bought mine at $115, and considered buying a box for $1150 but waited too long. I refuse to pay $150 for a cigar, though its does last 2 hours. I found some pepper in the last quarter, and did enjoy it for something different, but at the current price point I will stick with my Opus X. If there was a value for cost section, I would currently give it 2 stars.

I waited a long time before buying this so definitely looked forward to lighting it up. A very enjoyable cigar with no construction or performance flaws at all, but the price tag is a scandal. If you buy it it's because you want to try an exclusive Davidoff release, though the flavors are similar to other Davidoff releases. I would have known this was a Davidoff tasting it blind. Now that I've had it I'd rather take the next $80 and get several sticks of Ashton Symmetry, Padron, Opus X, Eiroa Jamastran or Aladino Corojo reserva LE robusto and get more bang for the buck. I found the 7 Especiales by Davidoff to be a more fantastic experience than this one. Still it's a great example of the quality Davidoff can produce.

This is the most expensive single cigar I've ever purchased. I knew it was a special occasion cigar, but I'm disappointed that it's so good because now I want to buy more! Earthy, mushroom, cedar, and cream notes were all present. If you're on the fence, buy it, smoke it, and enjoy!

Finally got a chance to try one of these. It looked good right off the bat, then it started canoeing - badly. Had to correct at least twice. Flavorwise good - just not knock your socks off spectacular. Guess I've been building it up in my head for so long that I expected the best cigar ever. If you can afford it, go for it. For me, given the price, one and done.

Bought 5 of these cigars to keep for special occasions. When they arrived, I had no choice but to try one. Taste is sweet, its amazing. Creamy and smooth smoke. Not for every day smoke due to costs, but I will definitely be buying again when comes time to replenish. The presentation is luxurious. Definitely 5 star stick!
