Macanudo Inspirado Black was launched in 2017 as one part of a Black/White series. Featuring a Connecticut Broadleaf wrapper, Ecuadorean Sumatra binder and filler from Esteli, Nicaragua. This full flavored smoke uses Broadleaf tobacco that has ripened on the stalk.

The Dominican Republic is the world's first producer of cigars. Most factories are located in Santiago, in the center of the island, and in close proximity to the tobacco fields grown in the fertile Cibao Valley. While tobacco and cigars have always traditionally been produced in the Dominican Republic, many Cuban cigar makers established in the Dominican Republic after the Cuban communist revolution, elevating the quality of Dominican cigars.

The plants are grown in full sun giving this cigar wrapper its characteristic sweetness. The Connecticut Broadleaf plant leaves are mainly processed as maduro tobacco. Today, Connecticut Broadleaf seeds are being grown in other countries besides the United States.

The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Ecuador Sumatra tobacco is made from Sumatra-seeds that been cultivated in Ecuador, one of the most ideal locations for growing tobacco. The leaves tend to be dark and rich in flavor.

Pleasant surprise. This is quite complex and well balanced. Notes of black licorice, raisins and other fruit like flavors. Medium plus on flavors, more enjoyable if smoked slowly even if you have to "nurse" it with flames periodically. Definitely worth trying in a larger ring gauge. Don't be intimidated by the dark wrapper. My favorite new Macanudo.

Have you ever picked up a cigar and said to yourself, "this one is going to make me sick"? Most people have. But this can be the biggest misconception. I thought I would prove it to myself and many others, so, I embarked on smoking the darkest cigars I could find. The first cigar I grabbed is the Macanudo Inspirado Black Robusto. One of the darkest wrappers on the market with an oily sheen and great looking black and chrome band. Using my trusted Xikar Xi cutter and Tactical lighter, I started my journey. The first puff gave me a nice blast of leather and cocoa as if I had made a fresh cup of coffee in a leather factory. The draw was easy and had barely any resistance. Smoking 15-20 minutes in, the smoke is thick and chewy as it leaves a long after-taste of sweet cocoa and marshmallow. This would be a GREAT cigar to smoke around a campfire. Past the halfway point, the ash finally fell off. I was pleasantly surprised the ash stayed on strong with me moving around as I worked, constantly putting it down and picking it up. I removed the band and continued to smoke as the flavor profile changed back to leather and a robust cinnamon bread-like note on the retro hale. This rich flavor lasted until there was only about a half inch left, and I never felt that much strength. So, with this being the first cigar on this experimental journey, the Inspirado Black Robusto debunks the myth so far! I also recommend a good rum or Scotch with this blend if you want to increase the flavors. Now if you'll excuse me, I have some boots and a belt to make...

The Inspirado black is easily my favorite cigar. The aroma and flavor are heads above any other cigar on the market today. I wish they were available in a 60 ring size. Macanudo really outdid themselves with this version of the Inspirado line.

I love broadleaf but the draw completely ruined this for me. Left it out the humidor to rest for a few hours, still had to use a PerfecDraw and even then, I got more tobacco crumbs through the draw than smoke. Ditched it after 2mins

Great looking stick somewhat rustic and lumpy. Draw was very firm near unsmokeable in the begining but loosened up slightly but still not where I would like it. Burn was above average with nice solid ash. Flavors started off pretty good with some coffee but chocolate type of flavors but got muddy towards the last third. Also no pepper to speak of. Overall not bad but will probably reach for the orange all day given the choice

This is about as full-bodied and strong as they come in my opinion. I did not get any of the sweetness that other reviewers have remarked on (which would have been welcomed). Very tight roll and a tougher draw than anticipated. Consistent pepper and cocoa flavors, but without much nuance... a bit lacking for me.

Excellent bold cigar. Strong hints of coffee, earth, and dark chocolate. Not a cigar for the weak of palate. Pairs well with a good aged rum or black coffee.

A great little smoke. Medium plus. I get a chewy raisin taste from this...and I'm not the kind if guy that can taste 3 year aged cedar from a forest in Montana. Perfect burn every time. Draw is great. Box purchase for me. Appearance is a little interesting..rough looking.

Plume is excellent to have on your cigars. It indicates a perfect cigar and a well-maintained humidor. When your cigars acquire plume, this is the optimal time to sit back and have a smoke. Even though bloom does not improve the taste of your cigar, it just feels great to smoke

I first encountered the Inspirado Black through a sample set of Macanudo robustos received as a gift. Of them all this stood out. Smooth and chocolatey with a gorgeous aroma that immediately cemented these as a personal favourite, even for someone new to cigars without a developed palette. Thankfully Neptune offered international shipping as Macanudo are not available in my corner of the world. Will certainly order again.

I purchased this stick after I read Shelly's staff pick review and I was amazed on how good it is being on the price point its at. I enjoyed it very much that I went to the store and purchased a box. Everything about this cigar is great but there was just 2 minor issues that I ran into in some of the cigar. 3 out of 20 had a bit of uneven burn issues cause of hollow spots but then corrected and also 2 of the cigars would go out quick and would have to relight. Not bad out of 20 and a great price point cigar, also easy on the pocket lol. I recommend this cigar for sure.

A new process for making this Connecticut broadleaf wrapper was used, allowing the leaf to "ripen on the stalk" as opposed to the original practice of stalk cutting. The wrapper is a beautiful extra dark color--and along with the black and silver packaging makes a sharp statement. The filler is Nicaraguan along with an Ecuadorian Sumatra binder. Upon first light, I was surprised to see the large smoke output! The primary notes upfront were of espresso, leather and earth with a peppery finish. An almost licorice flavor also appears. Into the second third, the licorice and leather notes dominated as the pepper notes diminished totally. Into the final third, the licorice note was still upfront and was also combined with a very nice sweetness and notes of espresso to carry you to the end. Excellent draw, solid ash, and even burn. Extremely good value cigar. There was not a lot of complexity but it had a nice consistent flavor profile which I enjoyed, A must try!
