The Tatuaje Havana VI Verocu is a stronger version of the popular Havana VI (aka Red Label), which was released in 2007. It is a medium to full-bodied cigar that is expertly handmade by My Father Cigars in Nicaragua. Its dark reddish Ecuadorian Habano maduro wrapper covers a binder and filler made of Nicaraguan tobaccos. Due to its strength and complexity, the Tatuaje Havana VI Verocu is considered a good transitional stick for the novice aficionado or the veteran who is looking for a great everyday smoke.

Despite many decades of war and revolution in this Central American country, the cigar industry has thrived due to the hard work and tenacity of Cuban exiles to the land such as Plasencia, Padron, Oliva, Ortez, and others. Tobacco has been a force of social stability, and the country is now one of the principal exporters of premium cigars in the world.

The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
Ecuadorian Habano wrapper has become one of the most used cigar wrappers in the market. Grown primarily by the Oliva family, this tobacco originated from Habano or H2000 seeds brought to Ecuador from Cuba. This leaf is rich and flavorful thanks to the temperate climate of Ecuador and the quality of its volcanic soil.

The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Nicaraguan cigar binders are produced mainly in Esteli and Jalapa, both lands with volcanic soil and excellent climate for growing tobacco. Binders grown in Jalapa have sweet undertones. Corojo, Habana2000, Criollo, and Maduro binders are all produced in Nicaragua.

Was not blown away by this one. Had an odd smell when burning and the texture felt very hard and had a synthetic feel.

Dual red & white thin bands with silver foil accenting and cursive lettering, pretty sleek. The wrapper leaf is an impressively oily & soft suede, burnished chestnut leather. There's a triple cap which is a nice touch. Cold draw was cocoa and baking spices. Aroma of chocolate and cedar. Straight cut and a breeze of a light-up. Semi-constricted draw produced decent smoke volume. Flavor profile was oak, some clove, and a dash of pepper. The retrohale was turbinado brown sugar and sharp salt. The burn line was wavy and the ash stack was decent. At first ashing there was a solid cone left behind, clearly well constructed. The second third was a bit of a rodeo, the nicotine headrush came on and the flavor notes were chock full of hay and leather. Giddy up! The retrohale transformed into a salty yeast. At this point the draw felt choked as most drags required a double-puff. Into the final third there was raisin & date notes in the blend, and the salt from the retrohale moved into the finish. The burn needed assistance with a few touchups. Taking it past the bands it finished like a toasty bran muffin. Overall it was an alright experience. The word "Verocu" apparently is a slang Cuban word that means "ballsy", and that sums up the surprise headrush in the first third but it subsided. Worth the try but not exactly my style, a bit too much of a dry bread for me. The look and smell was more enjoyable than the actual session. Final smoke time was 75 minutes.

Sweet tobacco up front. Slightly earthy and dryer in the mid. Picks up roastier/toastier pepper and spice elements on retrohale. Slight runner about 1/3 of the way through, evened out. Draw firmer than I prefer. Decent smoke output. Medium to slightly full. Nice little flavor bomb.

Bought 2 to try. First one was beautiful. A little firm on the draw but had plenty of aged tobacco, deep earth and pepper. Went well paired with my morning coffee! Second one was plugged. Even using a perfecdraw didn't help. Couldn't keep it lit, kept going out and had no smoke output. I would try again with a bigger size. But I wouldn't purchase this size again.

This little stick of dynamite is my morning coffee smoke. I’m finished it before the cup of joe goes cold. Beautiful, dark wrapper with effortless draw. Light up is a mouthful of black pepper zing that falls away after a few draws to a woodsy, hay taste with lots of smoke for a little stick. I had to relight, my fault though. I’m writing this review as I smoke. Razor sharp, even burn. Ash is flaky and loose, dropping every 1/2” or so. Band was loose and peeled right off. Half way transition to sweet coffee taste, perfect with my black coffee. Very enjoyable smoke. I need to order more.

Throughout the years, I've found myself constantly coming back to my favorite little smoke when I don't have too many minutes to burn: meet the Tatuaje Verocu No. 5. This petite cigar is made in Nicaragua by boutique giant Tatuaje, and is unbelievably delicious. Boasting a dark brown Ecuadorian Habano wrapper on top of premium Nicaraguan binder and filler, this medium-bodied long-filler beauty is made with the exact same benchmarks as its bigger brothers, and you will be hard-pressed to find another cigar that packs as much remarkable flavor into such a small package... particularly with the same expert construction and impeccable burn that normally is reserved for more, ahem, endowed examples. This is a perfect size cigar for me, and was a leisurely 40-minute smoke (surprising for its nice). Very full flavor, and as others have said, smoked like a “big cigar.” This may be one of my go-to cigars.

This is an excellent little cigar. It is pretty darn spicy and I turn to it when I want a pretty peppery stick. Like most Tatuajes I've tried, it still leaves the palate very clean.

Excellent 40-45 minute smoke. Very well constructed and good looking. Draw a shade on the firm side. Burn almost perfect. I purchased a box of 50 and would buy again.

I prefer the smaller cigars since i rarely like sitting somewhere for more than 30-40 minutes. This one was perfect. The amount of taste, the draw was great, it burned slower than you would think from the size and the burn was even. I will definitely be getting more....probably my new go to smoke.

The Verocu No. 5 is a small cigar that thinks it is much larger. No draw issues, and no issues with lack luster flavor here. Upon light up, this cigar delivers plenty of nice, fairly complex , spicy (but in no way obnoxiously spicy) smoke that really makes you believe you are puffing on a much bigger vitola. Along with the Petite Reserve, the Verocu is one of my go to smokes, especially if I am in a hurry. You will get an average burn of 30 - 40 mins from this stick, depending on how aggressively you smoke it.
