Most cigars are manufactured in the Caribbean and Central America.
Honduras, a Central American country which shares a border with Nicaragua, is widely known in the premium cigar industry as the ideal place to grow Cuban and Connecticut seed tobaccos. Danli and the Jamastran Valley is considered the heart of Honduras’ cigar industry. The Jamastran Valley is known for producing a full-bodied tobacco that draws strong comparisons to the tobacco grown in the Pinar del Rio region of Cuba. This same region is also known for its Connecticut shade grown and Corojo shade grown tobacco. In addition, Honduras produces Cuban-seed sun grown filler tobaccos of the highest quality.

The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
Ecuador is the perfect place to grow wrappers, because it is located on the Equator! And it has rich soils too. The weather conditions, with a nearly permanent cloudy sky, provide a natural shade, protecting the wrapper plants from sunshine and allowing the tobacco to grow thin and light. This climate allows tobacco growers to grow Connecticut-seed wrapper in the shade without shade cloths, resulting in more economical wrapper.

I hesitate to review this pack as I have only tried the nyctophila cigar. I love the Asylum 13 cigars. They are some of my favorites. Did not enjoy the nyctophilia at all. Set it down and three puffs. Didn't like the taste at all.

The Asylum 13 Connecticut Toro is a smooth to medium body cigar with a golden Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper embracing a great blend of Honduran long-fillers. This cigar has mild, sweet, and spicy flavors when first smoked, and in the second third, the spice increases, but also the smoothness. By the last third, it had maintained its rich flavor, and I was surprised at how well the Connecticut wrapper blended into the taste. This could easily become a daily cigar for many people who like stogies more on the mild side. The blend is great for a relaxing cigar to smoke at the end of the day or with the first cup of coffee in the morning.

I’m typically one that reaches for the fullest bodied stick I can get…but I’ve been told how great these were. Though mild in strength, they definitely don’t disappoint in flavor and complexity. I ordered two…I just had to smoke the first one immediately, as I’ve been hunting for them locally to no avail. As always, Neptune didn’t disappoint. I was VERY impressed with the first right out of the shipping package. The other is resting in my humi, and I look forward to sampling it after. Was very impressed with the burn for such a fresh stick. Highly recommend to a cigar smoker at any level or preference. It was a nice change for me!

This is a mild cigar, very enjoyable, probably the best, easiest draw of any cigar I've smoked. If you're looking for intense flavor, this is not for you. But if you're looking for a relaxing, smooth, easy smoking cigar, then highly recommended.

I was really happy with these cigars, which is good because I took a chance and bought 50 of them. Because of the available discount and specials, I got them for 1/2 of the MSR price, so that tends to make them taste and smell just a little better. But, the draw and burn are the best ever.

The cigar is mild but had a spicy flavor throughout the whole time. I think the spiciness overpowered the mild character of the cigar. During the first third at least, the burn was very uneven and one side had burned itself a crater.

This cigar has been a long time coming-- - a mild addition to the fuller bodied Asylum line. This Asylum 13 has an Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper with Honduran corojo tobacco and filler, which adds a little zing. Upon first light, notes of pepper spice jump out along with cedar and earthy notes. Into the second third, the pepper notes tone down and cedar notes are upfront. The last third was basically the same-- cedar and pepper-- not very complex but a great balance for a smooth, mild to medium smoke. The construction was perfect--draw, burn line and ash all spot on. This cigar is a great price point and even though the complexity was low, it was still enjoyable-- can smoke this at anytime day or night. Also, it's nice to know there are options for a larger ring gauge, mild cigar-- goes up to a 70 x 7.
