The Plasencia Alma del Fuego (Spanish for Soul of Fire) captures the passion and strength of Nicaraguan tobacco. A Nicaraguan puro, the Alma del Fuego’s binder and filler is composed primarily of tobacco that is grown on the island of Ometepe, which was formed by two volcanos. Volcanic soil along with the right climate conditions is ideal for growing tobacco. The island of Ometepe sits in the middle of Lake Nicaragua. Ometepe tobacco is known for its strength. Thus the name Alma del Fuego. However, its strength is tempered with a delicious sweetness that is accented with spicy, nutty, and citrusy notes.

The Plasencia Ehtefal was specially crafted to celebrate, “...that we can meet again. Just as the roots of tobacco come together and become stronger, we too are stronger together. We wish to celebrate this momentous occasion taking place in Qatar with the Plasencia Ehtefal,” said Nestor Andres Plasencia in a company press release. The cigar made its debut in Qatar, and it was launched just prior to the start of the 2022 FIFA World Cup (the cigar is not a World Cup cigar, nor will it be exclusively available in Qatar). The Ehtefal cigar sports a savory reddish Nicaraguan Sun-grown wrapper covering a Honduran binder and a filler composed of Honduran and Nicaraguan leaves. The tobaccos used for this blend were grown on farms owned by Plasencia Cigars. The filler’s leaves have been carefully aged for ten years. Handmade in Nicaragua, this is a medium bodied cigar with a rich complexity of flavors and creates a memorable smoking experience. “Ehtefal” is the Arabic word for “celebration.”
Cigar Origin
Nicaragua
Most cigars are manufactured in the Caribbean and Central America.
Despite many decades of war and revolution in this Central American country, the cigar industry has thrived due to the hard work and tenacity of Cuban exiles to the land such as Plasencia, Padron, Oliva, Ortez, and others. Tobacco has been a force of social stability, and the country is now one of the principal exporters of premium cigars in the world.
Strength
Wrapper Color
Colorado
Cigar wrapper color varies from green (Double Claro or Candela) to black (Maduro or Oscuro) with a full range of browns in between.
Colorado is a medium brown color also known as EMS or English Market Selection as this used to be the color with more popularity in England than in America.
Wrapper
Nicaraguan
The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
Nicaraguan cigar wrappers are produced mainly in Esteli and Jalapa, both lands with volcanic soil and excellent climate for growing tobacco. Wrappers grown in Jalapa have sweet undertones. Corojo, Habana2000, Criollo, and Maduro wrappers are all produced in Nicaragua.
Sungrown
The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
Sungrown cigar wrappers come from tobacco plants that are grown directly under the sun without the use of man made tents to give shade as in Shade grown wrappers. As opposed to the Shade grown plants, sun grown tobacco plants grown thicker leaves with thicker veins and darker color. Sungrown wrappers can be appreciated for their rich taste and sweet undertones.

Hand rolled in Nicaragua, the Plasencia Reserva Organica is a medium strength cigar that features a toothy, oily maduro wrapper. From filler to wrapper this stick is completely composed of organically grown Nicaraguan tobacco using the same methods the Nicarao Indians used almost six centuries ago. The Plasencia Reserva Organica has a naturally sweet profile with notes of pepper.

For more than 150 years, the Plasencia cigar factory has been making cigars the old-fashioned way: by hand. The Plasencia Family’s cigar-making heritage is self-evident in their Plasencia Reserva Original line of fine cigars. Using only tobacco certified by the Organic Crop Improvement Association (OCIA), the Plasencia Reserva Original is considered the world’s first and only organic cigar. An earthy, dark-brown wrapper from the Jalapa and Estelí regions of Nicaragua surrounds the filler and binder, which is also from Nicaragua. The Plasencia Reserva Privada Original is a medium-strength maduro that produces a flavor which speaks of fruits, nuts, and caramel. In 2017, Plasencia Cigars received the Prime Time Award: Large Company of the Year award, which is presented by Cigar Coop.

The cigar is an all-Nicaraguan puro made from tobacco that was grown on farms owned by Plasencia. This is a limited-edition cigar that is handmade by Plasencia Cigars in Nicaragua. The cigars wear three bands that symbolize the Dragon and feature the Plasencia brand. They are stored in a collectible box that represents the Dragon.
