Tobacco has been a force of social stability, and the country is now one of the principal exporters of premium cigars in the world.

Cigar wrapper color varies from green (Double Claro or Candela) to black (Maduro or Oscuro) with a full range of browns in between.

Ecuadorian Connecticut Shade
The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
Ecuador is the perfect place to grow wrappers, because it is located on the Equator! And it has rich soils too. The weather conditions, with a nearly permanent cloudy sky, provide a natural shade, protecting the wrapper plants from sunshine and allowing the tobacco to grow thin and light. This climate allows tobacco growers to grow Connecticut-seed wrapper in the shade without shade cloths, resulting in more economical wrapper.

The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Tobacco is grown in many islands of the Archipelago but, as far as cigars are concerned, Sumatra and Java are the ones. Sumatra Wrappers are worldwide known. Central Java (Vorstenland) and East Java (Besuki) give fillers and wrappers in abundance. Indonesia is a key country for cigar tobacco.

I wanted very much for this cigar to be a good buy. I purchased a bundle based on reviews here, and online. Unfortunately, this was a complete disappointment. Placing them in my humidor, they looked like a well-made cigar. After smoking several of them, I cannot recommend this cigar for any reason. The burn is very uneven, the ash is very flaky making this a very messy cigar, and you need to constantly puff of it to stay lit. I could tell by lightly squeezing the cigar between my fingers that these cigars are poorly made, with gaps in the binder tobacco. I smoked (or at least started 7 of the 25 bundle), but threw away the remaining 18 cigars. Smoking these makes for a very unpleasant cigar experience. Don’t waste your money as these cigars are not worth purchasing at any price.

For the price, these sticks perfection. 1.80ish a stick and these things pack so much into that. I get some medium roast coffee, and some caramels. Not much pepper, but was expected from a shade. These are THE $2.00 smokes. Outdoes all other bundles at the price. Easy to clip and burn relatively straight. Aroma and flavor are well-beyond good-enough. To my experience these are far better than the others. I'm going to try the Madoro wraper and see how. Good smoke every day.

Strictly thinking in terms of $2 per cigar... wow. Very clean cigar. Has a light taste but you can hardly smell the smoke so it's relatively safe to smoke in your apartment. Honestly, this is a better smoke than a couple AJ Fernandez cigars I had in the past week. I'm impressed with this cigar for the price.

There was a nice cedar flavor that had a mix of orange and graham cracker at the very start of the cigar. As I proceeded, a more buttery note contributed a nice creaminess to the cigar. The finish produces a very pleasant mixture of butter, baking spices, cedar and a hint of orange. Nice draw that remained consistent. I used a straight cut and the cigar produced a fair amount of smoke which never varied. Easy to smoke throughout.

This was, surprisingly, a disappointment, since I enjoyed the Factory Smoke Sweet so much. Very much like the Sweet, it is a well made and firm cigar, and it too stays firm right to the end. That is, however, all that it has in common with the Sweet. There is no discernable aroma, and just a bland tobacco taste. Perhaps it's just me; I am new to this hobby, cigar smoking, so my taste buds haven't had the time to have a decent education about cigar flavours. I'll give it some time before trying it again, but for the time being, it's a no for me.

You ain't going to fool anyone with this one. No fancy label here, just a straight shot of honesty. 'Factory Smokes" say's it all. I have been smoking these Factories for a year or so, but this is the first time I've tried the "Robusto". I have also been searching for a short smoke for those times when I've not got the time to spend on a longer smoke. Had some disappointments, but finally, I think this one might be the cigar I was searching for. Short smoke, maybe twenty-five minutes, and certainly affordable. Don't be fooled by the bundle price, this one's worth every cent. And to top it off, if you haven't got that much time, you won't mind snubbing it halfway through either. Nice little cigar, think I'll order another bundle soon

While I'd like to smoke one of my Ligations Undercrown's everyday, it's just not an affordable option. In light of that, I have been exploring some more affordable daily smokes. While browsing bundles, I came across this one. A "Factory Smoke" from Drew Estates. I am impressed. As Drew Estates is a quality brand, I should have guessed that this cigar would be just what I was looking for in a daily. It will not be the last time I order these, in fact, I'm planning to order a bundle for a friend as a gift. We both enjoy a quality/affordable daily cigar.

I found it to be "ok." It's not luxury, it's not vintage, but it'll do for like an ordinary smoke while cutting the grass or cooking on the grill. Construction is average (definitely not a Liga Privada) and taste was good for the first 2/3rd's but then became a bit bitter towards end.

The price was so low for this bundle that I had some concerns that they might be short filler (or at the very least Cuban sandwich style). I was pleasantly surprised to discover that not only were they long filler but the taste was very similar to the Connecticut Shade cigars which cost MUCH more. The only drawback (so to speak) was that they were not very dense, which lead to an almost too good draw and burned the cigar through pretty quickly. All in, I would buy these again (as well as recommending them to someone looking for an affordable every day smoke). - Tonio D.

Like the Toro size of the DE Factory Shade offering, I feel these aren't very well rolled (they're extremely soft), and the filler used tends to produce too many "floaters" in my mouth after using a Colibri deep "V" cut, and the flavor and aroma is not at all what you would expect from Drew Estate. I wanted to love these, but probably won't order them again.

I was probably expecting too much from a cigar that sells for just over a buck a stick. But with the Drew Estate name on it, I just honestly feel these cigars should taste a lot better than they do, and be more consistent in how they are rolled. I use a Colibri deep "V" cut on most of my cigars, and these cigars never failed to give me a mouthful of loose cuttings from the filler used. I don't honestly think I'll order these again. I wanted to love them, I just can't.
