Despite many decades of war and revolution in this Central American country, the cigar industry has thrived due to the hard work and tenacity of Cuban exiles to the land such as Plasencia, Padron, Oliva, Ortez, and others. The Sumatra cigar wrapper is a dark leaf from the "black tobacco" sub-species family. It was first planted in the western Indonesian island of Sumatra by a Dutch explorer in the 1500s. Sumatra-seed tobacco is being cultivated in the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Ecuador, and Nicaragua.

The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Nicaraguan cigar binders are produced mainly in Esteli and Jalapa, both lands with volcanic soil and excellent climate for growing tobacco. Binders grown in Jalapa have sweet undertones. Corojo, Habana2000, Criollo, and Maduro binders are all produced in Nicaragua.

If you have smoked a Tabak Especial Cafe con Leche and a Baccarat The Game cigar, this is what would happen if those two had a baby. If you don't like infused cigars, you won't like this stick. This cigar reminds me of my youth when we would sneak out to the back or the lake after stealing a cigar from grandpa's collection. Nostalgia aside, this is a sweet flavoured cigar reminiscent of a flavoured Backwoods. To quote one reviewer, "it's like smoking a jolly rancher." The toros I ordered had a fast burn, didn't require any touch ups and lasted just over an hour. For the aficionado it's hard to take this cigar seriously unless you're looking for something different. Don't get me wrong, different is good; this reminds me of yesteryear. Having said that, even as a kid there's something called "too much of a good thing." These cigars would be an excellent choice for a guys weekend or fishing trip with novice cigar smokers. So if you have a craving for something smooth and sweet give these babies a try. Did I mention I also like jolly ranchers?

Loved everything about this cigar except it was too sweet for me. The aroma was fantastic and the flavors were wonderful but I didn't care for the sweetness of the wrapper. Like i was smoking a jolly rancher.
