Por Larranaga Cigars

Por Larranaga can be traced back to Cuba and the year 1834, where it was then considered one of the crown jewels of the country for many years afterward. Since then, the brand has also found a home with Altadis USA and is being manufactured in the Dominican Republic, continuing the legacy of one of the oldest brands to ever grace the cigar industry. Combining a traditional, refined flavor with meticulous attention to detail in the areas of construction and consistency, Por Larranaga doesn't appear to be even close to throwing in the towel, even after almost two centuries of excellence.

Por Larranaga

Por Larranaga is a popular brand originally made in Cuba in 1834, making it one of the oldest brands in the Altadis portfolio. The brand has been reintroduced to US markets in 2016 with a beautiful cigar made in the Dominican Republic at the Tabacalera de Garcia factory. This medium bodied cigar boasts an Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper with Dominican fillers and binder.

One of my old favorites, but they’re getting harder to find. Beautifully constructed. On the milder side, but robust enough to let you know you’re smoking a fine cigar. Plenty of smoke, a sturdy light gray ash, burned evenly down to the nub. Nice earthy notes, slight woodsy/nutty tones, but not dry on the pallet like other lighter cigars. A great go to cigar when you don’t feel like getting bowled over by your smoke. Definitely worth a try.

one of the best cigars I ever smoked

This cigar has been a classic for a long time so I was eager to give it a try. The packaging really did not grab my attention but I have to say the experience was enjoyable! This cigar has a nice oily Ecuadorian connecticut wrapper. Upon first light, earthy notes are apparent along with a slight sweetness. Into the second and third parts of the cigar, not much changed until the end where notes of a slight spice jumped in with some nutiness. Even though this cigar lacked complexity, it was still an enjoyable smoke. A mild to medium cigar, burned great from start to finish. The ash was bit flakey and gray in color but not a problem. For the person who wants a smooth mild-medium smoke without spice, this cigar is for you

Thoroughly enjoyed this cigar, a solid smoke that pairs nicely with my whisky of choice.

Not for me. The draw was tight.
