The Southern Draw Cedrus is a full-strength cigar that is handmade in Nicaragua at the AJ Fernandez cigar factory. Its Indonesian wrapper covers a Nicaraguan Habano binder and a filler made of Nicaraguan Corojo, Nicaraguan Criollo, and Dominican Piloto Ligero tobaccos. The Southern Draw Cedrus has a flavor profile that consists of pepper, cedar, and herbal notes.

Despite many decades of war and revolution in this Central American country, the cigar industry has thrived due to the hard work and tenacity of Cuban exiles to the land such as Plasencia, Padron, Oliva, Ortez, and others. Tobacco has been a force of social stability, and the country is now one of the principal exporters of premium cigars in the world.

The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
Tobacco is grown in many islands of the Archipelago but, as far as cigars are concerned, Sumatra and Java are the ones. Sumatra Wrappers are worldwide known. Central Java (Vorstenland) and East Java (Besuki) give fillers and wrappers in abundance. Indonesia is a key country for cigar tobacco.

The Sumatra cigar wrapper is a dark leaf from the "black tobacco" sub-species family. It was first planted in the western Indonesian island of Sumatra by a Dutch explorer in the 1500s. Sumatra-seed tobacco is being cultivated in the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Ecuador, and Nicaragua.

Nicaraguan Habano
The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Nicaraguan Habano tobacco is grown in the Jalapa and Esteli regions of Nicaragua, which is valued for its rich volcanic soil and ideal climate for growing tobacco. Nicaraguan Habano produces cigars with a Cubanesque flavor and aroma.

Nicaraguan Corojo
Filler is the term used to describe the tobacco inside a cigar or the "guts" of the cigar.

The Cedrus is a well constructed box pressed cigar with a solid chocolate brown wrapper. Herbal flavors and aromas abound along with pronounced cedar and a red pepper spice that leaves a lingering burn on the tounge. I also picked up notes of bread, leather and creamy toffee character. The Cedrus is definitely a complex and flavorful cigar which is worth checking out if you’re looking for something different.

Very interesting and tasty smoke as advertised. While the kudzu started strong on the pepper n mellowed a bit the cedrus seemed to pick up in peppery intensity throughout. Nice full draw with a burn needing just a few slight touch ups. I'm liking these southern draws so far...

Agree with other reviewers concerning the complexity of the flavor profile. The lancero vitola amps up the flavors another notch. The smoke was very rich and voluminous, and fortunately for me, had no issues with draw or burn. While the belicoso is tempting, I think I would go with the lancero again!

Excellent cigar.. perfectly constructed, rolled, and pressed. I detect a cedar twinge, earth, a bit of slightly sweet damp hay. Combined, it produces a unique flavor similar to Sancti Spiritus tobacco. This cigar is not mundane, it packs a bold flavor, and it is remarkable at the 88-90 level.. I will buy more!
