Most cigars are manufactured in the Caribbean and Central America.
Honduras, a Central American country which shares a border with Nicaragua, is widely known in the premium cigar industry as the ideal place to grow Cuban and Connecticut seed tobaccos. Danli and the Jamastran Valley is considered the heart of Honduras’ cigar industry. The Jamastran Valley is known for producing a full-bodied tobacco that draws strong comparisons to the tobacco grown in the Pinar del Rio region of Cuba. This same region is also known for its Connecticut shade grown and Corojo shade grown tobacco. In addition, Honduras produces Cuban-seed sun grown filler tobaccos of the highest quality.

Honduran cigar wrapper has the reputation of great quality, with wrapper leaf being grown in the Jamastran, Talanga and San Agustin valleys. Some of the wrappers being grown in Honduras include Corojo, Honduran Claro, Honduran Criollo, Honduran Jamastran Viso Rosado, Honduran San Agustin Havana Seed and San Agustin Ligero.

The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
Corojo wrapper was first developed in Cuba in the 1930s and quickly became popular as the wrapper on some of the best cigars. By the end of the 90s, Cuba stopped growing Corojo wrapper because of its susceptibility to pests and diseases. Ironically, Corojo wrapper has since become more popular outside of Cuba, as it has been replicated in tobacco farms in Nicaragua, Honduras, Ecuador and the Dominican Republic.

The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Honduran Corojo is primarily shade-grown and used for wrappers as well as binders. It is valued for its flavor, dark brown color, consistency, and barely visible veins.

This is Honduran tobacco at its finest. This cigar will make you think twice about Nicaraguan Cigars. You might not know this, but Honduras has been cultivating tobacco long before Nicaragua. The rich volcanic soils and natural fertilizers all play their part in this exquisite leaf. Aromas of Earth, barnyard, leather, fermented delicious Corojo leaf. And no, I didn’t taste any dam cinnamon in my cigar. If I ever do, I’ll send them back, : ) one of the best cigars I’ve had in years!

I know a lot of people love this cigar so I decided to try a couple of them. It's a good cigar but I don't think it's spectacular (totally subjective). It definitely has a lot of typical Corojo notes but it has it's own Honduran twist. Lots of creamy toasty notes with baker's spices and a little milk chocolate. There is a little tanginess that I find in most Corojo tobacco. I would say it's medium in body and strength but flavor is med/full. So, subjectively it is not my favorite but it is a good cigar.

Great cigar but strong. Make sure you have a hearty meal and maybe smoke this in the middle of the day. Tough going to sleep after one of these. Great flavor. First 2/3 had a cedar, chocolate, leather, toasted nut vibe. Creamy as well. As you got to the final 3rd a cayenne/red pepper kick walked through the door. The cedar was still there but most of the sweetness disappeared. The pepper went from red to black with a nice cedar finish. The burn was a little uneven. Needed to be touched up and it did go out in the final 3rd. Other than that a really nice cigar.

These are one of my favorites but make sure you properly age them. There is this apple/carrot cake type spice notes that comes through on these with every puff if they are aged well. You'll still get those notes on the last third through the nub on less aged ones. Very unique flavor profile!

Somehow Aladino fell under my radar for a long time….which is sad, this cigar is fantastic. It’s smokeable right out of the box with initial notes of leather, earth and spice. I like bold and peppery cigars and this one delivers. This review is being written at the end of 2022 and No 4 was a regular release but will now be limited to an annual release moving forward - I imagine they’ll be much harder to track down so grab them while you can. Neptune had the best price when I was searching for this cigar and also they got it to my door in less than 48 hrs…..so you can’t go wrong with their service either.

I’m relatively new to th hobby, and this cigar came highly recommended. The first third burned beautiful, with a long, straight white ash. A bit of pepper and a complex flavor profile that was both savory, and reminiscent of scotch. Burn issues began to plague me in the last half and i had to relight and touch up multiple times. Flavors became a lot smoother and a very slight pleasant tobacco sweetness crept in. However, I did find this one to be quite strong on the nicotine front. I tend to like the medium-full range and this on got a bit intense for me into the last third. I had to finally wave the white flag and set it down. Probably will come back to it at some point, but not a go to option for me.

Beautiful cigar! The only thing I’d say is I wish it was little less spicy/peppery. Of course most cigars of this caliber will have a little heat, but was hoping to have a little less of that aspect when smoking this fine Aladino !

Excellent flavor on the Corojo wrapper. As a practice, I let my sticks sit in my humidor for at least two months before smoking. These were in there for about three, and well worth the wait. This had a consistent med-full flavor, with a medium body throughout. I got no pepper, but I did get some cocoa, and some slight sweetness from the corojo. Very enjoyable smoke.

I was in the mood for a classic cigar, so I picked up the Aladino Corojo LE No. 4. It is a Honduran puro that’s stuffed with Corojo tobacco from filler to wrapper. I love everything about the Aladino brand. From its soft tissue packaging to its old-fashion box design and image of gentlemen in a social setting enjoying cigars, drinks, and each other’s company. As for the cigar, it doesn’t get any better. The wrapper had a warm reddish-brown hue and a slight sheen. Prior to lighting, I got some nice earthy notes with an overall sweetness off the foot and body. The cold draw was effortless and revealed more of the earthy notes. Once lit, this delectable corona offered some notes of cinnamon and vanilla. The smoke was just right, not too wispy and not too thick. Into the second third, the vanilla and cinnamon became more pronounced while the tobacco sweetness took a back seat. The burn was on point, and the ash was nice and white. The retro-hale was peppery. The finish was short but creamy. Up to this point, the strength was medium. However, it made a slight shift to the full side. The flavor profile stayed the course into the final third. I recommend this puro to smokers who want a traditional cigar with a great flavor profile. I’d pair it with a coffee, dark.

An almost perfect smoke. Just wish I had bought a bigger one! AVO Syncro Nicaragua and Padron's natural series are two of my favorites and I would easily rank this among them. I'm a novice smoker but they all seem to have in common is very nutrient rich tobacco with a prominent salty/mineral finish. Lacking any extremely dark flavors, it is rather earthy, nutty, leathery, with a distinct aged tobacco and cedar note. It's also devoid of much creaminess, instead producing a rather dry smoke. Whether or not this is detrimental is subjective, and I didn't mind too much since I had something to drink. Sort of a soft pack and unrestricted draw producing big, effortless clouds of smoke. Razor burn and expert construction all around. Highly recommended and will definitely buy more in the future.

When I ordered this Neptune wrote to say sorry, we have sold out. I told them to swap it for another my father or something, then Luzzie replied and said don’t worry, we have them. I am so happy they did because I promise you this is a ridiculous cigar. Just delicious on every single draw. I have no doubt that there will be a box of these in my humidor very soon. By the way, if you are reading this in the uk and are wondering if Neptune cigars is the retailer for you I can promise you that there is no retailer in the uk who can get cigars to me in a better condition than Neptune can. Corojo is my preferred leaf and the Reserva delivers. The torpedo softbox press is a welcome addition and tasty. I did find the strength of this stick a little on the strong side so keep your soda nearby to counter.

I've been impressed greatly by the Corojo Reserva line of cigars since I tried the L.E. robusto two years ago. It has stood out as a unique blend with great flavors and this is the case here. Beautifully crafted with a smooth as velvet wrapper and very good draw. Definitely one to try, as well as the robusto L.E.!

Top notch cigar. It plays well above the 12 dollar mark. I would rate this full but on the lower end of full. Perfect length perfect ring gauge. Flavor profile is spot on for me. This is the first cigar that I have come back to over and over again. Well done JRE!

One of the best cigars I’ve smoked A mature well aged full Body cigar, phenomenal aroma flavor and consistency of a well rolled cigar. The Aged corojo binder and filler with a corojo wrapper smokes evenly throughout. I bought several of these as they are limited in numbers ! Get it while you can. A must have in your humidor

The LE robusto version of this is in my top 3 for favorite cigars of the year, and this is just as fabulously rich, deeply flavorful and satisfying as the robusto! It really doesn't get much better than these guys. The advantage of this one is the smaller ring gauge which intensifies the flavors a bit! This is easily 95+ points in my book.

This Honduran puro cigar is very pleasing to the eye with a dark, oily and rustic corojo Honduran wrapper. Cigar was very firm and hard picked with Honduran filler. Pre-light: Picked up bitter chocolate, raisins and a bit of sweet tobacco. Cigar took longer than normal to light up with a single flame torch but once lit the draw and burn were perfect throughout. 1/3: huge spice kick immediately, flavors of bold charred wood with a hint of cocoa. Picked up a bit of sweetness, almost like a dark cherry flavor. Pepper mellowed out dramatically and now just faintly present on the retrohale. Semi sweet cream, cherry wood and some root beer poke through the profile. 2/3: Burn has been great and smoke output is high. More charred wood, hay, earth are the predominant flavors with a light cherry present on the finish. First ash drops at just under a hour in. Root beer flavor returns with a creamy finish. 3/3: 2nd ash drops at a hour and 20 minutes as I nub the cigar. More dark cherry, cedar and a hint of cinnamon is making an appearance. Finishes with earth and wood. Medium +/Full body and flavor, definitely had its moments of strength. Not an overly complex cigar but a well balanced stick. This one was in my humidor for a little over a month, these seem like they would only getting better with age. I recommend giving one a try at least once.

This new Aladino Corojo Reserva is a beautiful Honduran puro made with 100% corojo tobaccos –the binder, filler and wrapper. The appearance of the cigar caught my attention immediately and drew me right in. The wrapper is a beautiful brown and has a very smooth, rich look. Upon first light, notes of cedar, coffee, earth and some spice are upfront. I also tasted a nice fruit sweetness. The smoke output is intense and the draw and burn are perfect at this point. Into the second third, I am still experiencing creamy cedar notes and coffee notes but also a nice cinnamon note pops in which makes for a very interesting and delicious balance. Chocolate notes and almost a licorice note are spiraling around as well. The spiciness has calmed down – the burn and draw are still spot on. The final third continues with the same notes along with a slight citrus note jumping in. The overall strength definitely goes from a medium to a full body by the end but very smooth and creamy! I was very impressed with this Aladino Corojo Reserva as I have already smoked three!! This smoke will definitely make its way as a staple in my humidor. Definitely a must try. Enjoy.
