Rocky Patel Conviction

When Rocky Patel switched from being an attorney to becoming a cigar crafter, he was fully convinced that creating premium cigars is what he wanted to do. This certainty allowed him to create a globally recognized brand that produces one fine cigar after another. The Rocky Patel Conviction cigar sports a Mexican San Andres maduro wrapper that was fermented for four years in palm-bark wrapped bales, which is a traditional Cuban fermentation method known as terciario (or tercios). This method allows the wrapper to fully develop. The wrapper cloaks a Nicaraguan binder and a Nicaraguan filler made of vintage tobaccos that were harvested in 2014, which happens to be Patel’s first harvest. The cigars are rolled by two teams of two master cigar rollers. To ensure the cigars are rolled to perfection, each team is restricted to rolling only 250 cigars per day. The Conviction is a testament to Rocky’s endless dedication to producing flawless, box worthy cigars that will appeal to all aficionados.

Perhaps the exalted price of this stick influenced my expectations, but although this is fine cigar, my expectations were not met. I found the draw a bit hard and the burn was uneven throughout. The cigar does deliver notes of caramel and coffee as well as hints of baking spices and chocolate. However, for the price, I was expecting a mind blowing event which did not happen. Frankly, for the price, I would smoke the A.L.R second edition any day of the week and twice on Sunday.
