The CAO Colombia is part of CAO’s World lines, which is known for creating unique blends using rare tobaccos from around the globe. The CAO Colombia’s filler is composed of a Cuban-seed Colombian grown tobacco called Ica Mazinga, which was first planted in Colombia in the early part of the nineteenth century. It is blended with a Brazilian leaf, which is then housed in a Cameroon binder and covered by a Honduran wrapper. The CAO Colombia is a medium bodied smoke with a flavorful profile.

Despite many decades of war and revolution in this Central American country, the cigar industry has thrived due to the hard work and tenacity of Cuban exiles to the land such as Plasencia, Padron, Oliva, Ortez, and others. Tobacco has been a force of social stability, and the country is now one of the principal exporters of premium cigars in the world.

Cigar wrapper color varies from green (Double Claro or Candela) to black (Maduro or Oscuro) with a full range of browns in between.

Honduran
The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
Honduran cigar wrapper has the reputation of great quality, with wrapper leaf being grown in the Jamastran, Talanga and San Agustin valleys. Some of the wrappers being grown in Honduras include Corojo, Honduran Claro, Honduran Criollo, Honduran Jamastran Viso Rosado, Honduran San Agustin Havana Seed and San Agustin Ligero.

Cameroon
The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Cameroon tobacco is fragile and thin but gives the cigar a sweet and light flavor. It is cultivated in the West African countries of Cameroon and Central African Republic.

Filler is the term used to describe the tobacco inside a cigar or the "guts" of the cigar.

Quite firm construction with a pretty tight draw that I used my poker to loosen up a little. Pretty even burn for most of the smoke until about the last third. Nice oaky earthy leathery smoke with a little spice and grassy sweetness.

The CAO Colombia Tinto started off with a strong sugar sweetness that changed to wood, leather, and spice a short way in. Towards the end of the first third, I started to get some cream and cedar from it as well. It was firmly in the medium range to start. The cigar changed slightly to tobacco, wood, and leather in the second third with some bitterness starting to show itself toward the end of this third. The cigar didn’t move up or down regarding strength. The final third saw the flavors stay constant from the second third, but overall, I really enjoyed this cigar. For me, it was a perfect way to pair it up with a good glass of smoked whiskey.

I have had CAO in the past and they have been fantastic. Unfortunately this sampler didn't have anything new that blew me away. I've had the Colombia and Brazil before and knew they were good smokes but the other 3 were less so and the US one lasted about half a dozen puffs before being chucked. The draw was poor and was very bitter. Star ratings was for the pack on the whole not for any one individual stick
