Manuel Quesada 70th Anniversary

Quesada Cigars' Master Blender Manuel Quesada celebrated his 70th birthday in April of 2017 and released this limited edition personal blend to spotlight the occasion. Available in two sizes, this cigar is truly rare, with only 1,000 boxes made. A Dominican wrapper adorns the Sumatra binder, which contains premium hand-selected tobacco filler from both the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua. Complex notes of earth, nuts and fruit can be found within this exquisite masterful blend which is sure to impress even the most particular of smokers.

Most cigars are manufactured in the Caribbean and Central America.
The Dominican Republic is the world's first producer of cigars. Most factories are located in Santiago, in the center of the island, and in close proximity to the tobacco fields grown in the fertile Cibao Valley. While tobacco and cigars have always traditionally been produced in the Dominican Republic, many Cuban cigar makers established in the Dominican Republic after the Cuban communist revolution, elevating the quality of Dominican cigars.

Cigar wrapper color varies from green (Double Claro or Candela) to black (Maduro or Oscuro) with a full range of browns in between.

The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
The main tobacco region in the Dominican Republic is the Cibao valley in the northern part of the island. In the 60s, Cuban seeds were brought here by exiled Cuban cigar makers and found that they grew exceptional cigar tobacco, called Piloto Cubano. The native Dominican tobacco, called Olor, is milder than Piloto Cubano yet more aromatic. The first company to grow Dominican tobacco for cigar wrapper was Tabacalera Arturo Fuente in 1995.

The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Tobacco grown in Sumatra is chiefly used as a wrapper, but it also serves as a great binder. It is flavorful and has a consistent dark color.
