The Southern Draw 300 Hands Maduro is handmade in Nicaragua at the AJ Fernandez cigar factory. It is a potent, full strength cigar that features a Nicaraguan maduro wrapper placed over an Indonesian binder, and a filler made of Dominican Republic and Nicaraguan tobaccos. The Southern Draw 300 Hands Maduro offers up notes of spice, sweetness, leather, and chocolate.

Despite many decades of war and revolution in this Central American country, the cigar industry has thrived due to the hard work and tenacity of Cuban exiles to the land such as Plasencia, Padron, Oliva, Ortez, and others. Tobacco has been a force of social stability, and the country is now one of the principal exporters of premium cigars in the world.

Cigar wrapper color varies from green (Double Claro or Candela) to black (Maduro or Oscuro) with a full range of browns in between.
Maduro wrapper can go from dark coffee brown with a reddish tint to blackish brown (the latter also called Oscuro).

Nicaraguan Maduro
The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
Nicaraguan cigar wrappers are produced mainly in Esteli and Jalapa, both lands with volcanic soil and excellent climate for growing tobacco. Wrappers grown in Jalapa have sweet undertones. Corojo, Habana2000, Criollo, and Maduro wrappers are all produced in Nicaragua.

The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Tobacco is grown in many islands of the Archipelago but, as far as cigars are concerned, Sumatra and Java are the ones. Sumatra Wrappers are worldwide known. Central Java (Vorstenland) and East Java (Besuki) give fillers and wrappers in abundance. Indonesia is a key country for cigar tobacco.

Filler is the term used to describe the tobacco inside a cigar or the "guts" of the cigar.

The Dominican Republic is considered one of the most premier tobacco growing countries in the world. The filler tobacco grown in this Caribbean island nation ranges from mild to full bodied. Olor Dominicano and Piloto Cubano are the main types of tobacco grown in the Dominican Republic.

A lovely effort by Southern Draw. The description of “sweet spice, leather and chocolate” is quite accurate. The draw was perfect, and the construction was solid--no cracking or unraveling. More than a few touch-ups were required, but otherwise, this is a very smooth and predictable smoke. Those who prefer Maduros might want to look into this one.

Good construction. draw is on the tight side. Very chocolate aroma (pre light) but the flavor was predominantly wood and spicy the chocolate faded in the background. solid performer for that price.

This was a decent stick, the appearance wasn't much to look at. The draw sucked, usually i will not waste my time on a cigar with a trash draw, I hit this stick with a perfect draw device and after that the draw was fixed. The burn was very good and so was the aroma. The taste was the best thing about this stick, after a while I got some leathery notes, which I do not like.
