The Esteban Carreras Cigar Co. is a boutique cigar company. They are known for crafting premium cigars by using a wide variety of wrappers, shapes and sizes. And giving them clever and unusual names. Their Devil’s Hand cigar is no exception. This delicious Nicaraguan puro features an oily, mouthwatering Corojo maduro wrapper and it is packed with tobaccos from this Central American country’s prime tobacco growing regions. When lit, the Devil’s Hand offers a flavorful, medium to full-bodied smoking experience. The Devil’s Hand is the first time Esteban Carreras has used Corojo tobacco in one of its cigars. The cigar got its curious name from the premium Corojo seeds that were smuggled out of Cuba. The “devil” being Fidel Castro and his government.

Despite many decades of war and revolution in this Central American country, the cigar industry has thrived due to the hard work and tenacity of Cuban exiles to the land such as Plasencia, Padron, Oliva, Ortez, and others. Tobacco has been a force of social stability, and the country is now one of the principal exporters of premium cigars in the world.

Cigar wrapper color varies from green (Double Claro or Candela) to black (Maduro or Oscuro) with a full range of browns in between.
Maduro wrapper can go from dark coffee brown with a reddish tint to blackish brown (the latter also called Oscuro).

The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
Corojo wrapper was first developed in Cuba in the 1930s and quickly became popular as the wrapper on some of the best cigars. By the end of the 90s, Cuba stopped growing Corojo wrapper because of its susceptibility to pests and diseases. Ironically, Corojo wrapper has since become more popular outside of Cuba, as it has been replicated in tobacco farms in Nicaragua, Honduras, Ecuador and the Dominican Republic.

The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Nicaraguan cigar binders are produced mainly in Esteli and Jalapa, both lands with volcanic soil and excellent climate for growing tobacco. Binders grown in Jalapa have sweet undertones. Corojo, Habana2000, Criollo, and Maduro binders are all produced in Nicaragua.

Came shipped with a Bovada 69% in the box. USPS scared me by holding my box 2 days in two towns along the trip. The Box is nice and the open presentation is nice. The smoke is great with a little uneven burn. I will add another review as I smoke them more. Right now I give this a 92 rating.

This cigar is unparalleled. Painted a memory on my palate I’ll never forget and fell in love with everything about this cigar . Tried somewhere around 100 different cigars and this one is the best one I’ve had no question . Will go out of my way to buy this if I have to . It’s that good .

Simply the best cigar on the market. I have smoked probably 50 different lines of cigars and this is the monst interesting on my palate. The fact it remains undervalued is good for me… makes a patel 60 look like a cuban reject.

Aster resting this for 3 months at 65% rh, it performed like a champ. The draw and burn were perfect. I love me some corojo flavor and this didn’t disappoint. If spicy and twangy are your thing, you can’t go wrong with this one for under $7.
