The Punch brand has been crafting legendary cigars for more than a century. The Punch Knuckle Buster is a wallet-friendly stick that is part of this storied brand’s portfolio, and it’s a knock-out. Touted as the “hardworking blend for hardworking people,” the Knuckle Buster is a great everyday cigar that’s packed with flavor but won’t break the bank. Handmade in Honduras, this medium strength stick sports a dark, Nicaraguan Habano maduro wrapper and binder that combines with a filler made of Nicaraguan and Honduran Habano tobaccos to deliver a nutty, earthy, and woodsy profile.

Honduras, a Central American country which shares a border with Nicaragua, is widely known in the premium cigar industry as the ideal place to grow Cuban and Connecticut seed tobaccos. Danli and the Jamastran Valley is considered the heart of Honduras’ cigar industry. The Jamastran Valley is known for producing a full-bodied tobacco that draws strong comparisons to the tobacco grown in the Pinar del Rio region of Cuba. This same region is also known for its Connecticut shade grown and Corojo shade grown tobacco. In addition, Honduras produces Cuban-seed sun grown filler tobaccos of the highest quality.

If you have ever worked on a small car’s engine before, you know what a knuckle busting experience that could be (especially the ones in which the manufacturer crams a lot of components into a small space). Luckily! The Punch Knuckle Buster Toro won’t scrape your knuckles or do undue damage to your cigar budget either. Its oily, dark Nicaraguan Habano wrapper was a little on the veiny side, and its construction was a little soft in the middle. Prior to lighting, I picked up a strong tobacco aroma from the foot and body. The first third did not offer much flavor, but I was able to pick up some spicy notes. Into the second third, notes of sweetness stood out. For the final third, a pronounced tobacco flavor and aroma took over. Due to its soft middle, I had to relight the cigar a couple of times, and the draw was tight. Overall, this Knuckle Buster is a good smoke you can enjoy every day without having to keep reaching for the first aid kit. Pair it with a café con leche to enhance its sweetness or an espresso with no sugar for contrast.

Overall: consistent flavors, nothing harsh, never bitter but no complexity; surprisingly mellower than expected as it never got to medium; good burn, never needed touch-up; decent value for the price point but left wanting a bit more complexity throughout and thicker smoke. Around a 3.5 out of 5 rating, i.e., middle of the road stick.

This is the best sort-of-budget cigar find in years. They are delicious! Well I must say that I was not a fan of this stick, found it to be extremely dry went out to fast.Always lighting it up, the cut area of the cigar had way too much loose tobacco resulting in me spitting out pieces of tobacco.
