The La Gloria Cubana Spirit of the Lady is a very limited-edition cigar that pays tribute to the skilled, hardworking men and women of the storied El Credito cigar factory who have dedicated their lives to creating one memorable cigar after the other. The cigar is handmade in the Dominican Republic and features an Olancho San Agustin Honduran wrapper that has been aged for seven years, and a Cameroon wrapper aged for three years. The La Gloria Cubana Spirit of the Lady is one box worthy cigar that will captivate your palate with every puff.

Most cigars are manufactured in the Caribbean and Central America.
The Dominican Republic is the world's first producer of cigars. Most factories are located in Santiago, in the center of the island, and in close proximity to the tobacco fields grown in the fertile Cibao Valley. While tobacco and cigars have always traditionally been produced in the Dominican Republic, many Cuban cigar makers established in the Dominican Republic after the Cuban communist revolution, elevating the quality of Dominican cigars.

Cigar wrapper color varies from green (Double Claro or Candela) to black (Maduro or Oscuro) with a full range of browns in between.
Maduro wrapper can go from dark coffee brown with a reddish tint to blackish brown (the latter also called Oscuro).

The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
Honduran cigar wrapper has the reputation of great quality, with wrapper leaf being grown in the Jamastran, Talanga and San Agustin valleys. Some of the wrappers being grown in Honduras include Corojo, Honduran Claro, Honduran Criollo, Honduran Jamastran Viso Rosado, Honduran San Agustin Havana Seed and San Agustin Ligero.

The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Cameroon tobacco is fragile and thin but gives the cigar a sweet and light flavor. It is cultivated in the West African countries of Cameroon and Central African Republic.

I have been waiting to try this stick for quite some time now. I love just about everything that manufacture but this was a huge dissapointment. It kept going out, it kept dropping ash, and it was harsh and tasteless.

I have been eyeing this La Gloria Cubana Spirit of the Lady for some time -- finally smoked and enjoyed this beauty! The Spirit of the Lady is a limited edition made in two sizes -- Churchill and Toro. Only 600 boxes of each vitola were made. The cigar hosts a 5 country blend-- 7 year old Honduran wrapper, 3 year old Cameroon binder, and fillers from Mexico, Dominican Republic and Nicaragua. The shape is also appetizing as it is a soft beautiful square press. This special edition was made to celebrate all the men and women who have made this brand iconic for decades. Upon first light, notes of dark chocolate, dark coffee, and earthiness were whirling about. Not far after, pepper notes come onto play but not overpowering along with a nice sweetness. There is a decent amount of complexity right out of the gate. Into the second third, the sweetness subsides while earthiness and white pepper take charge. Towards the end of the second third nutty notes appear and an almost campfire taste joins along which I happen to love! Strength thus far is med-full. The final third pretty much consisted of the same notes with a bit of sweetness seeping in and out. Construction throughout was spot on -- no issues. Draw was also perfect. I really enjoyed this smoking experience. It is a bit pricey but definitely worth the treat. Enjoy!

If it was half the price it would be box worthy. A great cigar but far too expensive. Still has great flavors and aromatics and is a pleasure to smoke, but I'm not seeing the reason for the price point when compared to other La Gloria Cubana releases which are as good. Try the Serie R and collecion reserva if you haven't yet.
