Davidoff pays homage again to one of the greatest cigar aficionados in history, Sir Winston Churchill. He was known to work late into the night, hence the name The Late Hour. The tobacco in this special cigar is aged for six months in fine Scotch single malt whiskey casks, which suffuses the cigar with the aromas of the cask and whiskey. A robust cigar with complex flavors of pepper, coffee, dried fruit, leather and spice.

Most cigars are manufactured in the Caribbean and Central America.
The Dominican Republic is the world's first producer of cigars. Most factories are located in Santiago, in the center of the island, and in close proximity to the tobacco fields grown in the fertile Cibao Valley. While tobacco and cigars have always traditionally been produced in the Dominican Republic, many Cuban cigar makers established in the Dominican Republic after the Cuban communist revolution, elevating the quality of Dominican cigars.

This leaf is rich and flavorful thanks to the temperate climate of Ecuador and the quality of its volcanic soil.

Mexican San Andres
The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
The San Andres region in Mexico is known for producing some of the best tobacco in the world. The tobacco is stalk cut and valued for its rich dark color and used to make noteworthy maduro wrappers and binders.

Filler is the term used to describe the tobacco inside a cigar or the "guts" of the cigar.

This cigar is a masterpiece! 90 minutes of pure bliss. Stored for 3 months at 68F and 65% RH and it smoked fantastic. Draw was perfect, burn line almost perfect...but the best part...the flavors. Complex and changes 4-5 times throughout the 90 min smoking time. Scotch, musk, leather, citrus and even a trace of salt....really different and interesting med-full bodied smoke. Very satisfying and tasty! Loved it!

I’m officially a Davidoff fanboy. Not a bad thing to say here. Burn, draw, flavor, all perfect. Even the Robusto was the perfect vitola. Be careful though, this guy packs a sneaky amount of nicotine. Make sure you got a full belly and take your time with this one. That’ll be hard to do though as you constantly want to go in for another puff.

Very good looking cigar with oily wrapper. Draw was fine but did require a few touch ups. Flavor was smooth and somewhat complex. The sweet note from the scotch was always dancing in the background with some cream, woodiness and pepper showing up. My biggest complaint about this cigar is how subtle the flavor was....always waiving at me from afar but never coming up and shaking my hand to introduce themselves. Front half was B- and back half was a B+. Good but not great cigar (to me).

Exquisite. Simply one of the greatest cigars for under $30 and one I'll personally remember for a while. This cigar is pretty much the closest to a Cuban out of the new world selection that I've had. I didn't get the cask flavor (I didn't expect to however) but it had all the notes that would remind you of Havana. The flavor notes were hay bale, barn yard, the dark smokey rich mocha coffee you're anticipating with a cuban finishing with a smooth and silky smokey, dare I say, resin that poured out of your mouth like vibrant notes of an opera. It truly is one of the new world's finest.

Taste is there. However, the first one out of the box was problematic. Wouldn't draw. Two of the four the foot was cracked. Like the box may have been dropped or mishandled in shipment. I also find the wrapper having way too many veins. For the price of these sticks I would expect a wrapper silky smooth. I won't be wasting my money on these any longer.

You know when you have a davidoff in your hands. The cigars are rolled so exceptionally well. They don’t allow anything less than perfection to leave their factory. This is a DELIGHTFUL davidoff!! The bold flavours would, like the great man this stick is named after, go well with a good scotch! It is folly for me to say ‘box worthy’ as all davidoff cigars are and there is only so much time in the day. What I would say is this........ if you have not tried davidoff yet, buy a selection of the different lines and find your heaven, because you WILL find it, I assure you. When you find the one that sings to you sweeter than all the others, buy that box, marinate them in your humidor and bring pleasure to your day.

There is something exquisite and unforgettable when smoking this Davidoff Late Hour. Perhaps it is the six months of aging of the tobacco in the oloroso sherry casks that bring out the refined and smooth flavors that linger on the palate into the finish. I will be buying multiple boxes to be sure.

I have always wanted to try a cigar that has been aged in a whiskey cask. So when I was presented with the opportunity to try the Davidoff Winston Churchill Late Hour Robusto, I jumped on it. Named after the famous British Prime Minister and his penchant for staying up late, legend has it that he did his best thinking during the “Late Hours”, this stick sports a dark Ecuadorian Habano wrapper with a Mexican San Andres binder. The filler is composed of Dominican and Nicaraguan tobaccos, which have been aged for six months in casks that once held single malt whiskey. Yum! A pre-light sniff of the foot offered an appealing aroma of sweetness and pepper. The first third was peppery with a touch of spice. During the second third, the Late Hour’s whiskey flavor started to express itself. In the final third, a combination of floral and nutty flavors presented itself, but without overshadowing the whiskey flavor. Full-bodied and full strength the Late Hour is a great after dinner smoke. I smoked mine shortly after I had consumed a carnivore’s dream-sized New York strip steak that was accompanied with seasoned mash potatoes and roasted asparagus spears. The Late Hour features a flawless construction, but the draw was a little too tight. Will I smoke this stick again? Let’s just say there’s a special place in my humidor for the Davidoff Winston Churchill Late Hour Robusto.

Excellence in every manner of cigar enjoyment, appearance and full bodied quality. Does in a few draws what other cigars take entire sticks to accomplish, if even that. It has terrific strength and potency but also very smooth and elegant. This is top of the line and first class all the way.

Enjoyed this while visiting my parents. I smoked in the late hour with a 15 year old (scotch) and I must say I truly enjoyed. Nice full flavor and an awesome draw. It had ages a couple of months in my humidor and well I absolutely loved it. Did I mention I was watching the movie darkest hour while puffing away!!! I am ordering a couple more for another late hour that’s yet to arrive.

Incredible cigar, impeccably crafted, not rolled tight like a log, perfect allowing for smooth draw and lots of smoke. A bold and full flavored cigar with mellow class. Cedar, nuts, some sweetness, and a hint of berry with all the carachter one would want. Great cigar, above 95 in my view!

Winston Churchill was a man known to enjoy a Single Malt scotch in the late hours of the night. This cigar pays homage to both the man and the great pairing that is a good scotch and a good cigar. This is a dark cigar and the first thing you notice is how beautiful this oily, chocolate brown Ecuadorian Habano wrapper looks. The first puffs definitely tickle your palate with the taste of the oak scotch barrels in which the Nicaraguan Condega filler has been aged. If you're a fan of Single Malts like I am, you will know what I mean when you smoke this. Other flavors that I got from this gorgeous stick included black pepper and spice. Flawless construction and burn even though for periods of time I did not puff on the cigar (talking too much and having a good time :-)) I did smoke it very slowly and it lasted me for a good 60 minutes at least. I really loved this stick: it had a lot going on without being overpowering, full flavor and medium to full body (getting especially stronger towards the end). Highly recommended.
