The Rocky Patel 15th Anniversary was ranked #6 in 2011's Top 25 Cigars by Cigar Aficionado. It has been hailed as Rocky Patel's best blend ever. This mouth watering, box pressed cigar is medium to full bodied, with a long finish and flavors of spice, cocoa, espresso bean and underlying sweetness. Made in the Tabacalera Villa Cuba factory in Esteli, Nicaragua with entubado rolling, triple cap and two binder leaves. The fillers and binders are Nicaraguan and the wrapper is a luscious Ecuador Habano leaf.

Despite many decades of war and revolution in this Central American country, the cigar industry has thrived due to the hard work and tenacity of Cuban exiles to the land such as Plasencia, Padron, Oliva, Ortez, and others. Tobacco has been a force of social stability, and the country is now one of the principal exporters of premium cigars in the world.

Cigar wrapper color varies from green (Double Claro or Candela) to black (Maduro or Oscuro) with a full range of browns in between.
Maduro wrapper can go from dark coffee brown with a reddish tint to blackish brown (the latter also called Oscuro).

Ecuadorian Habano
The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
Ecuadorian Habano wrapper has become one of the most used cigar wrappers in the market. Grown primarily by the Oliva family, this tobacco originated from Habano or H2000 seeds brought to Ecuador from Cuba. This leaf is rich and flavorful thanks to the temperate climate of Ecuador and the quality of its volcanic soil.

Nicaragua
The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Nicaraguan cigar binders are produced mainly in Esteli and Jalapa, both lands with volcanic soil and excellent climate for growing tobacco. Binders grown in Jalapa have sweet undertones. Corojo, Habana2000, Criollo, and Maduro binders are all produced in Nicaragua.

Filler is the term used to describe the tobacco inside a cigar or the "guts" of the cigar.

Decent pack. Royale was phenomenal. Great smoke production and amazing aroma. Tavicusa was good too, but the wrapper totally fell apart in the 2nd half. Still an enjoyable smoke. The 2006 and 15th Aniv. were both boring in terms of flavor. Will be buying the Royale again for sure.

RP 15 Yr Anniversary Torpedo- My initial impressions with this highly rated stick were fairly good. Although not surprisingly, the box pressing coupled with the double binder construction lent a rather “laborious” character to this smoking experience… and as noted by another reviewer, the resulting flavors of this fine tobacco were somewhat constrained/subdued (which may be quite appropriate, if your in such a contemplative mood) . So don’t get me wrong, the draw was fine and the burn line was also good. I enjoyed puffing this medium strength cigar into the second banding… where, during that final stage, this torpedo provided its’ best flavor. Obviously, an RP “labor of love”.

This cigar has a wonderfully smooth taste with a wonderful aroma to go with it. The draw, to me, is consistent with the other RP cigars I've had. I find them to have a slightly tougher draw than the Arturo Fuente cigars I've had.

Of the big brands with many offerings I like RP for its dependability. Haven't had a bad one yet and the 15th is no exception. Started out as medium to me but finished heavier. Made me wish I had a whiskey at hand. Fairly even burn even in the breeze and solid draw. Good choice if you're looking for a quality smaller cigar to pass an hour or so. A bit pricey perhaps but I'd come back to it again.

First box pressed torpedo. Horizontal v cut gave a perfect draw. Burn was wavy and at times needing touch ups, but nothing crazy. First third was earthy and semi sweet. No predominant flavors, but a good balanced flavor. Second third was great. I don’t have the best palate in the world so I couldn’t pick out the distinct notes. All I know is that after every pull I keep saying “Damn that’s good”. Nice Medium bodied cigar with a crisp and dry flavor. Not an avid Rocky smoker, but this was a great smoke.

Always wanted to try these, but were not always available. I'm a Rocky Patel fan, so I bought a box when they were available. Very good smoke. Just a bit stronger than a medium. However, definitely not to strong. Smooth and consistent. Love this Habano wrapper. good burn lots of smoke. highly recommend.

I did not think it justified the rating for me. It was an ok cigar, but the taste sometimes was a bit harsh.

I REALLY ENJOYED THIS CIGAR. It was sooo smooth, like smoking silk. There was a distinct dark chocolate taste. I'd recommend this to anyone. It is worth every penny.

1/3 terrible uneven and flaky ash, not much flavor, spicy to the lips. 2/3-3/3 flavors coming in, burn balanced out and flavor came in with some complexity towards the end, enjoyed the RP Decades more.
