If you’re looking for a knuckle sandwich, well you found it. Celebrity Chef Guy Fieri and Espinosa Premium Cigars have teamed up to create the Espinosa Knuckle Sandwich Habano. Its medium brown Ecuadorian Habano wrapper is draped over a Nicaraguan binder and filler that’s ready to punch your ticket straight to “flavor town.” From concept to cigar, it took Fieri and crew 18 months to develop this cigar’s no holds barred profile. And if that doesn’t knock you out, these medium-bodied beauties are handmade at AJ Fernandez’s San Lotano factory in Nicaragua.

Tobacco has been a force of social stability, and the country is now one of the principal exporters of premium cigars in the world.

Ecuadorian Habano
The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
Ecuadorian Habano wrapper has become one of the most used cigar wrappers in the market. Grown primarily by the Oliva family, this tobacco originated from Habano or H2000 seeds brought to Ecuador from Cuba. This leaf is rich and flavorful thanks to the temperate climate of Ecuador and the quality of its volcanic soil.

Nicaragua
The binder is a full tobacco leaf that is used to roll the cigar, binding the filler tobaccos together.
Nicaraguan cigar binders are produced mainly in Esteli and Jalapa, both lands with volcanic soil and excellent climate for growing tobacco. Binders grown in Jalapa have sweet undertones. Corojo, Habana2000, Criollo, and Maduro binders are all produced in Nicaragua.

Filler is the term used to describe the tobacco inside a cigar or the "guts" of the cigar.

Dig the banding on this one. Regal gold main band with the Guy Fieri logo and a satin footband. Smoking outside in variable conditions caused structural integrity issues. Flavor profile is rich pistachio, caramelized sweetness and roasted chestnut. The finish has a dash of spiced cream. Will definitely revisit in ideal conditions because it has enough promise.

The test draw after cutting the cap was very good. The initial flavors at light up were a nice cedar/citrus with underlying toffee, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, light leather, and black coffee.

I have had the Robusto a few times and finally tried the Gorda-R. I have to say the Gorda-R has the better taste, aroma, and draw/burn of the two. I can see why Cigar Aficionado put it in the top 25 for 2022. My stores only carry the Robusto and longer sizes. I had to order the Gorda online.

First puffs hit me hard with oak and pepper with an excellent draw full of smoke. About halfway it mellowed just a bit with some orange peel kicking in. Burn was a bit off at times but overall this was an excellent smoke full of flavor.

Back in the day, when someone would say they were giving you a knuckle sandwich, be afraid. Now you can gladly accept it. Erik Espinosa from Espinosa cigars made this cigar for Guy Fieri, a renowned celebrity chef who is known for blending some great spices with great dishes. This cigar does just that. It combines some fantastic flavors for an enjoyable cigar. Upon first light, you are introduced to some nice hints of spice, cedar and oakiness. The draw on this cigar is phenomenal, and the burn and aroma are great. At the halfway point, those flavors are still present and as tasty as ever. The construction on this cigar was done perfectly, with a super strong ash and even burn. Towards the end of the cigar, the notes are still consistent and simmering on my palate delightfully. This is one cigar that you can not pass on. I would definitely recommend the Knuckle Sandwich to anyone looking for a great medium-body cigar that was artfully prepared. If I would pair it with a drink, I would enjoy it with a nice glass of Crown Royal. Stop stalling! Strap in, light up, and join Guy Fieri on a trip to Flavor Town!

Enjoyed the Habano slightly more than the Maduro version, but both were great. The creamy notes that Espinosa excels in are present along with cinnamon spice along with coffee, cherry and citrus flavors.
