The Oscar Maduro is brought to you by Oscar Valladares, the manufacturer of the very popular boutique cigar, Leaf by Oscar. Like the Leaf, this cigar is presented wrapped in a real tobacco leaf instead of cellophane. A medium to full bodied smoke with fantastic construction and delightful flavors.

Most cigars are manufactured in the Caribbean and Central America.
Honduras, a Central American country which shares a border with Nicaragua, is widely known in the premium cigar industry as the ideal place to grow Cuban and Connecticut seed tobaccos. Danli and the Jamastran Valley is considered the heart of Honduras’ cigar industry. The Jamastran Valley is known for producing a full-bodied tobacco that draws strong comparisons to the tobacco grown in the Pinar del Rio region of Cuba. This same region is also known for its Connecticut shade grown and Corojo shade grown tobacco. In addition, Honduras produces Cuban-seed sun grown filler tobaccos of the highest quality.

Cigar wrapper color varies from green (Double Claro or Candela) to black (Maduro or Oscuro) with a full range of browns in between.
Maduro wrapper can go from dark coffee brown with a reddish tint to blackish brown (the latter also called Oscuro).

The wrapper is the last tobacco leaf to be rolled on the cigar, so it is the one the smoker will see.
Mexican tobacco is very dark and the best leaves can be used as maduro wrappers. San Andres Maduro is a thick, medium bodied dark leaf, also called San Andres Morron. Like Connecticut Broadleaf, San Andres Maduro is stalk cut and used for binder and wrapper.

I hate to be an ungrateful smoker, but I found this to be a terribly boring cigar. No obvious imperfections, but nothing to provoke my interest either, a better-quality basic stick. Some cigars just taste like cigar, and this is one of those. The burn and draw are about average, and the flavor is a one-note chocolate maduro thing, quiet on the spice, unoffensive. I am a fan of the complexity of Mexican San Andres tobacco and this did not have any of the more exciting and nuanced qualities I've come to anticipate. For those who like their smokes dark but mellow, high quality but not calling attention to itself, this is probably a wonderful choice. I personally prefer a little more personality and fun in my cigars. Perhaps I am not a total convert to the Oscar brand, which has never delivered an outstanding smoke for me, though I've enjoyed a few very good ones, and I love their use of tobacco leaves in lieu of ugly cellophane. Nothing wrong with it, but not for me.

A big thick cigar with a surprisingly good draw and burn. My new colibri v-cutter helped there I think. Medium and creamy and chocolatey with hints of coffee and spice on the back half. Held its ash great for its size. I enjoyed this one.

While this isn’t my favorite OV cigar, it was a decent stick. The flavor notes were very earthy & leathery for me, meaning I didn’t pick up any cocoa flavor as stated in the description. I also had some uneven burn in the last third. Overall, I’d buy this cigar again at a marked down price.

Picked up one of these at my local cigar shop. Liked it so much I purchased a box of them from Neptune! Smoked one the day they arrived. It was just as good as the one I had smoked. If you like any of the Leaf by Oscar sticks I promise you will LOVE this cigar. It is superior to the Leaf line and very enjoyable.

I have to be honest, it’s very rare that I get truly excited about a new cigar find, but the experience of smoking this was out of this world. Using only tobacco leads to wrap the cigars seems like it might be a gimmick. I cannot say without trying one of their cigars that has never been wrapped this way. All I can tell you is that the whole range that I tried had a depth of flavour I usually find in cigars double the price of these. 10 out of 10, absolutely bloody essential smoking

An elegant experience; very complex with a hint of clove. A really good changeup cigar from most. It's the only maduro I personally smoke and it came highly recommended from another friend that partakes. I smoke these on special occasions and you can't go wrong in trying one yourself.
