How are AVO cigars rated?

Answer

Avo cigars have generally scored in the high 80s in Cigar Aficionado blind tastings, which indicates very good to excellent quality. Of the range, the figurados or torpedos are usually rated among the best, cigars such as the Avo Belicoso and the Avo XO Pyramid. In Smoke magazine's blind tastings Avo generally scores between 4.0 and 4.5 (excellent quality).

Some recent examples:

Cigar Aficionado Aug 2008 comments on the mild to medium AVO Classic "a simple, woody cigar with some nutty, coffee notes."
It gives the cigar a rating of 87 points. The fuller bodied Avo Maduro received an 89 rating on Feb 2008.
